We come before the Lord with humble and repentant hearts, acknowledging that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). We lift up this request for forgiveness, knowing that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
Dear Heavenly Father, we stand in the gap for our brother or sister who seeks Your forgiveness. We thank You for Your boundless mercy and grace, which You have poured out through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord, we ask that You would forgive every sin—known and unknown—that has been committed. Wash over them with the precious blood of Jesus, which cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). Create in them a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within them (Psalm 51:10).
We also want to gently remind you that forgiveness is found only in the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus, we encourage you to do so today. Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Salvation is a gift from God, not something we can earn by our own works (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Lord, we rebuke any lies from the enemy that may try to convince this dear one that their sins are too great to be forgiven. We declare that the blood of Jesus is more than sufficient to cover every transgression. We pray that You would fill them with the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and that they would walk in the freedom and newness of life that comes from being forgiven and made new in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).
We also encourage you to turn away from sin and pursue righteousness. If there are areas of your life where you have strayed from God’s will, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal them to you and give you the strength to walk in obedience. Remember, God’s commandments are not burdensome (1 John 5:3), and He gives us the power to overcome sin through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).
Father, we thank You for Your unfailing love and the promise that if we walk in the light as You are in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, Your Son, cleanses us from all sin (1 John 1:7). We pray that this dear one would experience the fullness of Your forgiveness and live a life that brings glory to Your name. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
