We join you in this holy desire to pray the prayer of faith that the Lord Jesus may heal the sick, and we count it a blessing to stand with you in asking for this gift of faith.
We are reminded of what Scripture teaches us about this kind of praying. Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. James 5:14-15. We also take to heart that the effective, earnest prayer of a righteous man is powerfully effective. James 5:16. This shows us that the prayer of faith is not a formula or mere words, but a trusting, believing prayer offered in righteousness through Christ, with hearts fully persuaded that God hears us and is able to do what we ask according to His will.
Jesus Himself taught us, Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them. Mark 11:24. And again, All things, whatever you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. Matthew 21:22. Faith is essential, for without faith it is impossible to be well pleasing to him, for he who comes to God must believe that he exists, and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him. Hebrews 11:6. We must ask without doubting, believing that our Lord is both willing and able to heal, while also submitting to His perfect wisdom and timing, for His ways are higher than our ways.
We also cling to the promise of what Christ accomplished for us, that He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. By his wounds you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24. This healing encompasses both soul and body, and we trust in His mercy.
Together we pray. Father in heaven, we come before Your throne of grace in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Healer. We thank You that You are Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals us, and that You have compassion on the sick and suffering. We ask You to increase our faith and teach us to pray the prayer of faith that moves Your hand. Forgive us where our faith has been weak or wavering, and fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we may pray according to Your will with boldness and confidence. We lift up every sick one who has been entrusted to us, and those whose names are known to You, and we ask You to lay Your healing hand upon them. Anoint them, restore them, raise them up for Your glory, and if it be sin that has burdened them, grant forgiveness and cleansing through the blood of Jesus. Grant wisdom to doctors and caregivers, comfort to families, and let Your peace guard every heart. Help us to remain steadfast in prayer, not giving up, trusting that You hear us when we ask in Jesus name. We ask all this believing You are able, and we submit all outcomes to Your perfect and loving will. In the name of Jesus Christ our Savior and Healer we pray, amen.
