Some people have asked me about placing notes in the Western Wall (aka Wailing Wall) and the significance of this action. First, for those who don't know, the Western Wall is the last remaining wall of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem. It is a place of prayer and extreme holiness. If you go to the wall, you will see that many people have place prayer notes into the cracks in the wall. It is a way that people can ask God for help and feel that they are leaving a piece of themselves behind after they have left.
Personally, I feel that placing a note works for me in two ways. The first is that writing down my supplication helps me clarify what it is I want from God. It makes me think about the issue and to know what it is I desire from God and what I need to do as well to make it happen. Second, i feel that although i can't always think about my prayers, my note will be there for many months "asking" God on my behalf. As an aside, I say for many months, because they do clean out the wall once or twice per year.
Feel free to look at my website (noted below) or to be in touch through my profile if you have any questions.
God bless,
Sol
