Prayer for ###
We join together with you in bringing this situation before our Heavenly Father and we lift up this precious young boy to Him in Jesus name.
We understand your heart in this matter, you were trying to maintain order and boundaries when he used his watch to call home, and telling him to hang up brought many tears. We know you care deeply that he is now missing school and has already missed many days, and we share your concern for his wellbeing and his education.
Scripture reminds us how tender the heart of a child is and how our words and correction carry great weight. Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Ephesians 6:4 says Fathers, don't provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. And Colossians 3:21 says Fathers, don't provoke your children, so that they won't be discouraged. A gentle answer can turn away strong emotion, as Proverbs 15:1 teaches, A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. If the correction felt harsh to him, we encourage you to seek him out with gentleness, to explain lovingly why he needed to hang up, to reassure him of your care for him, and to ask his forgiveness if your tone caused hurt. This models humility and grace and helps restore trust so he feels safe to return.
We also want to encourage you regarding his absence from school. Missing many days can weigh on a child with anxiety and can make returning even harder. We pray for wisdom for you and for his family and teachers to work together to help him feel secure and to help him return with confidence. James 1:5 promises If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Your request has been heard and we bring it with tenderness before the throne of grace. There is a joy in the parental relationship, but there must necessarily be a vast amount of anxious care with it, and the frail cockle shell boat of a child's life seems likely to be swamped by many waves. We understand the heaviness you feel when a little one cries sorely and when school days are missed, especially after many days already lost.
We pray that the Lord will give you calm wisdom and clearness of mind in this tender moment. Recollect that when anxiety ploughs deep furrows across the mind, we are not fit for the emergency unless we look to Him who is the Father of all. May He help you to correct in love and to comfort in gentleness, so that the child may feel both your care and your steadiness. As it is written, the soul of the weaned child is quieted within, and we ask that this dear little one may be soothed and made content, his tears dried and his heart at rest.
Let us pray together. O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this child and upon this home. Thou seest his tears and his distress, and Thou knowest his need. Give to those who care for him patience and tender wisdom, that they may guide him aright. Restore to him health and strength and readiness of heart to return to his school, and grant that no further hindrance may keep him from learning and from duty.
