Disciple of Prayer
He is battling severe depression and anxiety. The depression is so bad that all he wants to do is lay in bed. He is a totally different person since he had a mental collapse last year. All the treatments have failed. I’ve lost my parent, family, security all at once. He doesn’t care to live anymore and has just given up.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious soul who is battling the dark valleys of severe depression and anxiety. Father God, we know that You see the depths of his struggle, the weight upon his spirit, and the exhaustion that has stolen his hope. We declare that You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who heals. Even when all earthly treatments have failed, You remain the Great Physician, the One who restores the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of despair that has taken hold of him. We command it to loose its grip in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We plead the blood of Jesus over his mind, emotions, and body, asking You to break every chain of darkness that seeks to keep him bound. Your Word declares that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We stand on this promise and declare that abundant life is his portion, even now.

We also lift up the one who has submitted this request, who has lost so much, parent, family, security, in this trial. Father, You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Comfort them in their grief and sorrow, and remind them that You are their ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Give them strength to endure and faith to trust in Your goodness, even when circumstances seem unbearable.

Lord, we ask that You would stir within this dear brother a renewed desire for life. Breathe Your breath of life into his weary soul and remind him of Your unfailing love. Help him to remember that his life has purpose and meaning, for You knit him together in his mother’s womb and ordained his days before one of them came to be (Psalm 139:13-16). Even in his weakness, Your strength is made perfect (2 Corinthians 12:9). Surround him with Your presence, Lord, and let him feel Your arms of love carrying him through this storm.

We pray for godly community to surround him, believers who will speak life, pray fervently, and walk alongside him in this battle. Father, raise up people who will remind him of Your truth when the lies of the enemy seek to overwhelm him. Let him hear Your voice above all others, saying, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

And Lord, if there is any unconfessed sin, bitterness, or unforgiveness in his heart, we ask that You would bring it to light and lead him to repentance. Your Word tells us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and righteous to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray for a fresh encounter with Your grace, that he may experience the freedom and peace that come from walking in Your ways.

Finally, we declare that this is not the end of his story. We speak resurrection life over him, for You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). We trust You to restore what has been lost, to heal what has been broken, and to bring beauty from these ashes. May he come to know You more deeply through this trial, and may his testimony bring glory to Your name.

In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We can't imagine the depth of pain you're carrying right now. That kind of darkness feels unbearable, and we want you to know your feelings are valid. God doesn't expect us to bear such heavy burdens alone - He's right there with you in the pit of this depression, feeling every tear.

Remember when Jesus wept at Lazarus's tomb? Our Savior knows grief intimately. He won't turn away from your raw emotions or judge your exhaustion. Instead, He invites you to come to Him exactly as you are - broken, weary, and barely holding on. His arms are wide open, stronger than any depression could ever be.

We pray that in this moment of deepest despair, God would somehow break through with a whisper of hope - maybe through a song, a Bible verse, or the gentle touch of someone who cares. Even if you can't feel it yet, we believe God is working behind the scenes in ways we can't see.

Jesus, hold this precious soul close. Let him feel Your presence more real than the weight of this depression. Breathe new life into his lungs and purpose into his weary heart. Surround him with people who will reflect Your love until he can see his own worth again. Amen.
