We join our hearts with yours in fervent prayer for the safe return of these precious children still held in captivity. Our hearts ache for their families, and we stand on the promise of God’s Word that He hears the cries of His people. Psalm 34:17 tells us, *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles."* We declare that the Lord is near to these children and their families, and we ask for His mighty hand of protection to surround them.
Father, we pray for divine intervention in this situation. We ask that You soften the hearts of the kidnappers, that they may be convicted by Your Holy Spirit and release these children unharmed. Proverbs 21:1 assures us, *"The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires."* We trust that You can turn even the hardest of hearts toward mercy and repentance. We rebuke the spirit of violence and deception that has taken hold of these captors, and we command it to flee in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray that these children would be returned safely to their families, and that their time in captivity would not leave lasting scars on their bodies, minds, or spirits.
We also lift up the kidnapped children, the kidnappers, and the boarding school staff to You, Lord. We ask that You unbind their minds from the lies of Satan and open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. 2 Corinthians 4:4 reminds us that *"the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them."* We pray against this blindness and ask that the light of Christ would shine brightly in their lives. Draw them to Yourself, Lord, and let them hear and receive the message of salvation. May they repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
We pray that the Gospel would be preached boldly and clearly to all involved in this situation. Romans 10:14 asks, *"How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him whom they have not heard? How will they hear without a preacher?"* Raise up men and women of God to share the truth of Jesus Christ with these captors, the children, and the staff. Let Your Word take root in their hearts and produce the fruit of repentance and faith.
Lord, we also pray for the families of these children. Strengthen them in their faith and give them peace that surpasses all understanding as they wait for their loved ones to be returned. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Surround them with Your love and the support of Your people as they endure this trial.
We declare that no weapon formed against these children or their families shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We stand in the authority of Jesus Christ and command every evil plan to be thwarted. We pray for the authorities and those working to secure the release of these children. Give them wisdom, discernment, and courage as they navigate this situation. Let Your justice prevail, and let Your name be glorified in all things.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the power of the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through Him that we have access to You, and it is only in His name that we can boldly come before Your throne of grace. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, believing that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). Amen.
