Your prayer reflects a heart that is seeking what God says is the most important thing to seek. Scripture teaches that wisdom is the principal thing, and with all that we pursue we are to pursue understanding. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord, a reverent trust that turns to Him first.
The Bible pictures wisdom calling out openly, inviting anyone to listen. That wisdom is not just good advice or more information. Knowledge can give us facts, but wisdom gives us the ability to use what we know rightly. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, so to seek wisdom is to seek Him, to watch daily at His gates, to wait for His counsel and to find life and favor with the Lord. It is far better than riches, better than rubies, and nothing we desire can compare to it.
That is why your request to discern before reacting and to let the Holy Spirit guide your decisions is so fitting. True wisdom from above does not lead to envy or strife. The wisdom that is earthly is self seeking and leads to confusion. The wisdom that comes from God is pure and peaceable and produces purity and peace in our lives. As you ask God to renew your mind to align with His, He will give you instruction in righteousness, judgment and equity, helping you to respond rather than react, and to walk in His ways with joy.
It is good that you have committed your family fellowship to the Lord. When wisdom dwells in the home, kindness is on the tongue, love flows freely, and peace guards the relationships. Continue to invite His presence to reign there, asking Him to keep your words gracious and your fellowship marked by joy.
For your husband's work, God who founded the earth by wisdom and established the heavens by understanding is able to give the same wisdom for the practical season and decisions a business faces. Like Solomon who asked for an understanding heart to lead well and whom God was pleased to answer, you can ask for discernment to know the times and to choose what is right. We join you in asking that the Lord would bless the work of his hands, bless the people connected to that work, and cause no weapon formed against you to prosper, according to His promise. We also ask for the Lord's favor and mercy to open doors that have been closed and to remove hindrances so that what is good and honest may go forward.
We pray with you that the blood of Jesus would cover you and that He would renew your strength as you cast your burdens on Him. He is the one who carries us through each new day He has made.
Father, we thank You that You are the giver of life and wisdom. Give to this family a greater measure of Your wisdom and understanding. Lead them by Your Holy Spirit, renew their minds, fill their home with Your love, peace and joy, and establish the work of their hands for Your glory. Keep them in health and strength as they trust in You. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.
