We thank you for sharing this request with us and we count it a privilege to join together with you in prayer before our heavenly Father. We stand with you in seeking His favor over this visitor extension with the Canadian immigration authorities, and we rejoice that you have submitted this desire to His perfect will and asked in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the throne of grace.
We are reminded that the hearts of those in authority are in the Lord's hands. Proverbs 21:1 says The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. We take comfort in knowing that no decision is outside His sovereignty. We also cling to the promise in Psalm 5:12 For you will bless the righteous. Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield, and to the encouragement in Philippians 4:6-7 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Father in heaven, we lift up our dear one to You and thank You for Your love and faithfulness. We ask that You would grant favor in the eyes of the officers reviewing this application for a visitor extension. We pray that if it is Your will, You would open the door for this extension to be granted smoothly and without hindrance. If it is not Your will, we ask that You would make Your path clear and provide wisdom and peace for the next steps. We ask that You guard this heart from anxiety while waiting, and fill it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help our friend to continue to commit every way to You and to trust in Your good plan, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Romans 8:28 says We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. We are praying with you for His favor, His peace, and His clear direction.

It is a good and right thing that you have brought this temporal care before the throne of grace, for there is nothing too small to spread before our Heavenly Father, and there is nothing too great for Him to ordain.
You ask for favor with those who must decide upon your visitor extension in Canada, and you add that word which should be upon every Christian lip, let God's will be done. Therein you have prayed wisely. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, so in grace let us rest assured that He is King, doing as He pleases, having mercy on whom He will have mercy. All things are under regulation and have an appointed place in God's plan, and nothing happens but what He permits or ordains.
You remember how James speaks of those who say, We will go, we will buy, we will sell, we will get gain, forgetting to say, If the Lord will, we shall live and do this or that. It is not foolish to make plans and to make lawful petitions to the authorities, but it is wisdom to hold every plan with an open hand before the Lord, feeling in the heart what we sometimes fail to say with the lip, If the Lord wills. Your best profit in this waiting will consist in doing and desiring God's will.
I know the waiting tries the soul. Certain of God's people are in trouble and distress and they are eager for immediate rescue. They cannot wait on God's time, nor exercise submission to His will. But blessed are all they that wait for Him. The Lord waiteth that He may be gracious, and His waiting people wait only upon Him, not trusting to the arm of flesh. Every promise will be kept, but not always today nor tomorrow. He will surely deliver His own in due season.
Therefore let your fear be turned to trust. You have quoted the Psalmist well, What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. And may you come even to that higher note, I will trust and not be afraid. Believe that your Heavenly Father who feeds the ravens will not allow a soul that rests upon Him to lack any good thing that is truly good for it. If He grants the extension, praise Him. If He withholds it, praise Him still, for He withholds no good thing from them that walk uprightly, and He will make even a disappointment to work for your eternal good.
