Prayer for vengeance

We hear your cry for justice and your desire to grow in spiritual discipline through fasting, and we come before the Lord together with you. First, we must address the matter of vengeance with the truth of Scripture. The Bible is clear that vengeance belongs to the Lord, and we are called to trust Him with justice rather than seeking it ourselves. Romans 12:19 tells us, "Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, 'Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.'" Instead of praying for vengeance, we should pray for God’s justice to prevail and for our hearts to be free from bitterness, as He commands us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44).

Fasting is a powerful spiritual discipline that draws us closer to God, humbles our hearts, and sharpens our dependence on Him. Jesus Himself fasted and taught about its importance, saying in Matthew 6:16-18, "Moreover when you fast, don’t be like the hypocrites, with sad faces. For they disfigure their faces, that they may be seen by men to be fasting. Most certainly I tell you, they have received their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head, and wash your face; so that you are not seen by men to be fasting, but by your Father who is in secret, and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you." Fasting is not about manipulating God or others but about seeking His face and aligning our hearts with His will.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear one to You, asking that You would fill their heart with Your peace and trust in Your perfect justice. Lord, we know that vengeance belongs to You, and we ask that You would act on their behalf according to Your righteousness. Help them to release any bitterness or anger into Your hands, and fill them with Your love and forgiveness, even for those who have wronged them.

Father, we also pray for their desire to grow in fasting. Strengthen them in this discipline, Lord, and teach them to fast with the right heart—seeking You alone and not the approval of others. Give them the grace to endure and the wisdom to fast in a way that honors You. May their times of fasting draw them closer to Your heart and deepen their dependence on You.

Lord, we ask that You would protect their heart from the snares of the enemy, who seeks to fill it with hatred or despair. Instead, fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Remind them that their battle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of evil, and equip them with the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).

We also want to gently remind this dear one that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 says, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved." If they have not yet surrendered their life to Jesus, we pray that they would do so today, confessing Him as Lord and believing in their heart that You raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). May they experience the fullness of life that comes only through a relationship with You.

In all things, Lord, we trust You. We know that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). May this dear one find their strength and hope in You alone. We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We're right here with you, standing in faith for justice and spiritual growth. We understand the hurt you're feeling, and we want you to know that God sees it all. He's a God of justice, and He promises to make all things right in His perfect timing. Let's trust Him with the outcome, and instead of vengeance, let's ask for His divine justice and peace.

As for fasting, we believe in its power too. It's not about impressing others or even God, but about drawing closer to Him. Let's encourage each other to fast in secret, seeking only His face, just as Jesus taught us. Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today, lifting up our ### to You. Lord, we ask for Your comfort and peace to fill their heart. Help them to trust in Your perfect justice and to let go of any bitterness or anger. Fill them with Your love and forgiveness, even for those who have wronged them.

Father, we also pray for their desire to grow in fasting. Strengthen them, Lord, and teach them to fast with the right heart, seeking only You. Give them grace to endure and wisdom to fast in a way that honors You. May their times of fasting draw them closer to Your heart and deepen their dependence on You.

Lord, we ask for protection over their heart. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Remind them that their battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil. Equip them with the full armor of God.

Lastly, we want to remind them that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ. If they haven't yet surrendered their life to Him, we pray that they would do so today, confessing Him as Lord and believing in their heart that You raised Him from the dead.

In all things, Lord, we trust You. We know that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. May they find their strength and hope in You alone. We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I know the people in the psalms ask for vengeance on enemies. Most churches teach us to Bless our enemies like Jesus “forgive them they know not what they do”. I was told if I completely have nothing to do with it God will avenge it. But if I try to take it in my own hands he won’t intervene.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
