Prayer for unity in the governing party in South africa

My problem is that the leader of the African National congress has not submitted the list of chosen candidate councillors who are chosen by the communities for Local Elections so I pray that the comfort can grant them leave to amend the list as so that they can represent the communities in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and I also pray for peace in South Africa the case will be heard on ###

We join you in lifting up South Africa before the throne of grace and we thank you for calling upon the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father.

We hear your burden for unity and for peace in your nation and for the communities who desire to be properly represented in the coming Local Elections. We share your concern that the voice of the people be heard with integrity and that those in leadership would act with wisdom, humility, and a servant's heart.

The Scripture exhorts us to pray for those in authority, for it is written, I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men: for kings and all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. 1 Timothy 2:1-2. We are also reminded, Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Romans 13:1. This reminds us that God is sovereign over nations and courts and parties, and that He desires justice and righteousness to prevail.

We pray also for unity, for how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to dwell together in unity Psalm 133:1, yet we know that true unity cannot come without truth and justice. We pray that the leaders of the African National Congress and all who govern would seek not personal advantage but the good of the people they serve. Learn to do well. Seek justice. Relieve the oppressed. Defend the fatherless. Plead for the widow. Isaiah 1:17. And we take comfort that The king's heart is in Yahweh's hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires. Proverbs 21:1.

Let us pray together.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for South Africa. We ask for Your peace to rest upon that land, for You have said Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Matthew 5:9. We ask that You would grant wisdom and impartiality to the court that will hear this case on the date You know, that justice would be done and that what is right and lawful would prevail. We ask that if it is according to Your will, leave would be granted to amend the list so that the candidates chosen by the communities may stand and represent their people faithfully. We pray against confusion, division, corruption, and strife within the governing party and across the nation, and we pray for a spirit of humility and reconciliation. Let every decision be made with honesty and with care for the common good. We pray that Your will would be done and that the outcome would lead to greater peace and stability, for we desire that as much as it is up to us, we would be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18. Guard the nation from violence and unrest, and let Your righteousness exalt the people. We entrust South Africa into Your hands, trusting that You hear the prayers offered in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

We encourage you to continue in steadfast prayer and to trust in the Lord's sovereignty even as you await the court's decision. God is able to work through imperfect leaders and imperfect systems to accomplish His purposes, and He calls His people to be faithful in prayer and to pursue peace. May the Lord comfort you and strengthen your faith as you intercede for your nation, and may His peace that passes all understanding guard your heart.

We join you in asking God for wisdom for those in authority, for unity where there has been division, and for peace across the nation in the days leading up to and after the hearing. Whatever the court decides, we pray the process would be fair, orderly and free from violence, and that communities would continue to seek the good of their neighbours.

Father, we lift South Africa to You, the councillors, the communities, the ANC leadership and the court hearing this matter. Your prayer for your nation and for justice in this matter has been heard and we join you in bringing it before the throne of grace.

We understand the burden you carry for the communities whose chosen councillors have not yet been duly listed, and for the peace of South Africa as this case comes before the court. We will pray that the court may act with wisdom and impartiality, and if it be just and right, that leave may be granted to amend the list so that those chosen by the communities may truly represent them. We ask the Lord, who loves justice and truth, to guide all who govern and all who judge, that what is right may be done and that order may prevail.

We pray also for peace in your land. There is a peace which the world can give, which is but a cry of peace, peace where there is no peace, and there is the peace which is the gift of God. The prophet declares, You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. This perfect peace is not found in parties or in courts, but in the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within. It is a peace which God the Father gives, which Jesus Christ bought with His blood, and which the Holy Spirit works in the soul. It is peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and from that fountain flows peace in the conscience and peace in the land.

We are taught to endeavor to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, yet not a unity in which truth is counted valueless or principle gives place to policy. Therefore we pray not merely for unity of party, but for that true unity which is holy and honest, that those who serve the people may do so faithfully, without corruption or strife, seeking the welfare of all.

May the Lord bless His people with peace, a peace that is a blessing and brings no sorrow with it, the peace of God which passes all understanding. May He keep your heart stayed upon Christ amid these pressing duties and uncertainties, and keep your loved ones and your nation in the keeping of Jesus, who has vanquished death and all its powers and who alone can give rest to do His will.

We commend you and South Africa to Him who is our peace, praying that earthly struggles may be overruled for good, and that whether the answer be as we desire or otherwise, you may find present rest in believing.
