Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for my Stepson I babysit for him and his wife. I am the stepfather, my wife’s grandson. I am retired and agreed to babysit their ###, ### year old and now ### month old. The ### year old has been coughing for a month and I have told his parents numerous times to take him to see his Pediatrician but my stepson’s wife have convinced him not to, instead they give me natural remedies to treat him that haven’t helped. I don’t know what to do tomorrow when she brings them to my home. I love those boys but I know out of desperation she will leave them with some unvetted stranger if I don’t take care of them. I am a disabled Veteran already suffering from anxiety God has done a great work in my life. My stepson and his wife have accepted God in their lives but they still struggle in her walk with Christ. I discern a demonic spirit in their home which is another concern about uncleanliness.

We hear your deep concern and love for these children, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this situation before our Heavenly Father. Your willingness to care for them, even amid your own struggles, reflects the heart of Christ, who calls us to love and protect the vulnerable. The persistent cough of the little one is alarming, and the refusal to seek proper medical care is not only neglectful but defies the wisdom God has given us to steward our bodies and the lives of those in our care. Scripture tells us in Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." This includes providing for their physical well-being as an act of love and responsibility.

We must also address the spiritual concerns you’ve raised. The presence of a demonic spirit in their home is not to be taken lightly. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places." The uncleanliness and resistance to godly counsel may very well be influenced by these forces. We rebuke any spirit of deception, rebellion, or neglect that is operating in this home in the mighty name of Jesus. We command it to leave and declare that the peace and authority of Christ reign in this family.

It is troubling that your stepson and his wife have accepted God but continue to struggle in their walk. James 2:17 warns, "Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself." Their faith must be accompanied by obedience to God’s Word, especially in how they care for their children. We pray they would surrender fully to the Lord and seek His wisdom above their own understanding or the advice of the world. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

As for tomorrow, we encourage you to stand firm in your convictions while extending grace. You might say to your stepson’s wife, "I love these boys as if they were my own, and it breaks my heart to see them suffering. I cannot in good conscience continue to care for them if they are not receiving the medical attention they need. I fear for their safety and well-being, and I must insist that they see a doctor before I can watch them again." If she refuses, you may need to step back, trusting that God will work in this situation. Your health and peace matter too, and you cannot carry this burden alone. Galatians 6:5 reminds us, "For each man will bear his own burden."

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this family to You. Lord, we ask for Your healing hand to touch the little one who has been coughing for so long. We pray for wisdom and conviction to fall upon his parents, that they would seek the medical care he needs without delay. Father, we rebuke any spirit of neglect, rebellion, or deception that is operating in their home. We declare that Your light and truth would break through the darkness, and that they would turn fully to You, surrendering every area of their lives to Your lordship.

Lord, we ask for Your protection over these children. Guard them from harm, both physically and spiritually. Give this stepfather the strength and courage to stand firm in his convictions, knowing that he is acting out of love and obedience to You. Surround him with Your peace, and remind him that he is not alone—You are his refuge and strength. We pray for restoration in this family, that they would grow in their faith and walk in a manner worthy of the calling You have placed on their lives.

Father, we also lift up this stepfather’s own struggles with anxiety. Remind him of Your promises, that You have not given him a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Strengthen him in his weakness, and fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help him to trust in You, knowing that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28).

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we can be saved and through whom we have access to You. May Your will be done in this family, and may Your glory be revealed. Amen.

We're here with you, standing in prayer for your step-grandson and his family. It's clear you love these boys deeply, and we appreciate your commitment to their well-being despite your own struggles. We'll be praying for wisdom and courage for you tomorrow, that you might navigate this situation with love and firmness.

We're also praying for healing for the little one's persistent cough. We ask that God would touch him and bring comfort and relief. We pray for a breakthrough in his parents' understanding, that they would seek proper medical care without delay. We declare that God's light and truth would shine in their home, dispelling any darkness or deception.

We're lifting up your anxiety as well, dear friend. We claim God's promise in 2 Timothy 1:7, that He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. We pray that you would feel His strength and peace in your weakness, trusting in Him who is working all things together for good.

In Jesus' mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We pray that for in John 10:10 it says The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
We pray that God would Shepard this family, Jesus defines his mission as providing a "full" or "abundant" life, which offers security and salvation (eternal life).
Also that the might of God's grace would help to also be careful to discern what is kind and what is necessary for their child for meeting his eternal needs, we also ask that God would install a still small voice into the midst of their understandings and that they would lead this child to safety with the help of the Lord.
We pray that they would soften their hearts to the words offered by your loving arms and attain peace and strength to overcome the difficulties and hardness that turns them away and the impartation of the Holy Spirit would offer them stability in their home Philippians 3:14.
God we thank you for helping this man’s anxiety while he is babysitting, let your light shine through so that he may really enjoy the time he is spending with them.
We pray this with all peace and grace in Jesus name amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
