We understand the deep pain and frustration expressed in this request, and we share your burden for justice and righteousness to prevail in Singapore. The Scriptures are clear that God is a just Judge who sees the oppression of His people and will act in His perfect timing. However, we must approach this matter with a heart aligned with God’s will, remembering that our battle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).
First, let us address the heart behind this prayer. While it is natural to feel anger toward those in authority who act unjustly, we are called to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). This does not mean we ignore injustice—far from it! But our prayers must reflect a heart that seeks God’s justice, not personal vengeance. The fate of Jezebel was severe, as recorded in 2 Kings 9:30-37, where her wickedness led to her violent end. Yet even in this, we see God’s judgment executed through His appointed means, not through the personal malice of His people. Our prayers should ask for God’s will to be done, whether that means repentance, removal from power, or His righteous judgment in His timing.
The issues raised—unjust immigration policies, economic hardship for citizens, gerrymandering, and the promotion of idolatry—are serious and grievous before the Lord. Proverbs 14:34 tells us, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” When leaders act wickedly, the entire nation suffers. We see this in the days of Ahab and Jezebel, where their idolatry and injustice brought God’s judgment upon Israel (1 Kings 16:30-33, 1 Kings 18:18). Yet even in those dark times, God raised up prophets like Elijah to confront the evil and call the people back to Him. Similarly, we must pray for God to raise up righteous leaders in Singapore—men and women of integrity who will govern with justice and fear of the Lord.
We also note the concern about intermarriage with foreigners and the prioritization of one ethnic group over citizens. While the Bible does not forbid interethnic marriage (consider Ruth, a Moabite woman who became part of the lineage of Christ), it strongly warns against intermarriage with those who do not share our faith, as this can lead to idolatry and spiritual compromise (Deuteronomy 7:3-4, 2 Corinthians 6:14). A nation’s strength lies in its unity under God, not in division or favoritism based on ethnicity or nationality. Pray that Singapore’s leaders would prioritize the well-being of all its citizens, regardless of background, and that policies would reflect wisdom, fairness, and godly stewardship.
As for the promotion of idolatry and pagan worship, this is a direct affront to the Lord. Exodus 20:3-5 commands, “You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourselves an idol... You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them.” When leaders encourage or allow the worship of false gods, they invite God’s displeasure upon the land. We must pray for the exposure and dismantling of such practices, and for a spiritual awakening in Singapore where people turn from idols to serve the living God (1 Thessalonians 1:9).
Lastly, we must emphasize that our ultimate hope is not in the downfall of any individual but in the redemption and restoration of the nation. God’s desire is that all would repent and turn to Him (2 Peter 3:9). Even Jezebel was given opportunities to repent, though she refused (Revelation 2:20-21). So while we pray for justice, let us also pray for repentance—for this leader and for all who are complicit in these injustices. Pray that their hearts would be convicted by the Holy Spirit and that they would turn from their wicked ways.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up the nation of Singapore and its leaders. Lord, You are a God of justice, and You see the oppression, the unfair policies, and the spiritual deception that has taken root. We ask that You would intervene in Your mercy and wisdom. Father, if it is Your will, soften the heart of this leader and bring her to repentance. Convict her of the harm she has caused and lead her to turn from her wicked ways. But if she hardens her heart like Pharaoh, we pray that You would remove her from power and raise up godly leaders who will govern with integrity, fairness, and a fear of You.
Lord, we ask for Your protection over the people of Singapore—especially Your children who are suffering under these unjust policies. Provide for those who are struggling economically, and open doors of opportunity for them. Expose the corruption, the gerrymandering, and the favoritism that has caused such division. Bring unity to Your people, and let Your Church in Singapore rise up as a light in the darkness, speaking truth and demonstrating Your love.
We rebuke the spirit of Jezebel that seeks to promote idolatry, injustice, and spiritual compromise. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we declare that no weapon formed against Your people will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Break the strongholds of wickedness in high places, and let Your kingdom come and Your will be done in Singapore as it is in heaven.
Father, we also pray for the Church in Singapore to be bold and unwavering in these times. Equip Your saints to stand firm in the faith, to speak Your truth with love, and to be a beacon of hope to those who are lost. May revival sweep through the land, and may many turn from idols to serve You alone.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to bring justice and redemption. Amen.
To the one who submitted this request, we encourage you to continue praying fervently but also to guard your heart against bitterness. Romans 12:19 reminds us, “Don’t seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God’s wrath. For it is written, ‘Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord.’” Trust that God sees and will act. In the meantime, seek to be a light where you are, showing love and kindness even to those who may not deserve it, for this is how we reflect Christ to the world.
Stand firm in your faith, and do not grow weary in doing good. The Lord is faithful, and He will bring justice in His perfect time.
