Prayer for this

They even use prayer so now I don't even pray and don't even read the bible and no church since it brought too much harm, so their efforts are invalidated by me too

We hear your hurt and your frustration in this situation and we are bringing you before the Lord together. You have felt alienated and belittled by advice given in the name of following God's will, where you as a Business Analyst were told to take work such as service crew at McDonald's or plumber work or any routine work, when your gifts and desires are toward managerial, oversight and project management work. That feeling of being misunderstood and misdirected is painful, and we understand why you feel that hypocrisy has harmed you. Yet we must also speak truth in love about the path you have taken in response, where you have said you do not go to church and do not pray and do not read the Bible because it brought too much harm, and that you have invalidated their efforts and their understanding of God's will.

We want to gently rebuke that response because it does not align with God's Word. When people hurt us, even people in the church, we cannot allow their failure to separate us from God Himself. The Lord says in Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another. Withdrawing from fellowship, from prayer, and from the Word does not punish those who hurt you, it only leaves you without the very grace and guidance you need. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18, but we must come to Him, not turn away. Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path Psalm 119:105, and without it we walk in darkness and confusion about God's will.

We also need to address work and calling. God has given you analytical gifts, a love for debating, justifying, overseeing the whole picture and proposing ideas to improve it, and a dislike for routine service work. Those desires toward project management and event planning may indeed be from the Lord, and we thank God for that clarity. At the same time, Scripture warns us not to despise humble work or to think that God's will must always match our preference for status. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23. And in humility, do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself Philippians 2:3. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time 1 Peter 5:6. God may call a person to a managerial role, and He may also call a person for a season to humble or gig work to provide, to learn, and to build character, and neither is belittling in His eyes. The issue is not whether McDonald's work or plumber work is below you, but whether we are willing to be faithful where God places us while we trust Him to direct our steps. A man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps Proverbs 16:9. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5.

We also notice that your request speaks of God and God's will but does not mention Jesus Christ. We must tell you that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. To cut off prayer in Jesus' name and to close the Bible is to cut off the very way God has provided for healing and direction. The harm done by people, even when they misuse prayer or claim God's will as their own will, does not invalidate God or His Word. We are called to forgive as God in Christ forgave us Ephesians 4:32, and to let no root of bitterness spring up and cause trouble Hebrews 12:15.

We also encourage you not to put your identity or calling solely in a personality test. Such tools can give language for strengths like creativeness and lower sensitivity to stress, but they cannot define God's purpose for you. Seek first God's Kingdom, and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you Matthew 6:33. We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28, even when counsel has been unwise or hurtful.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one who has been hurt and alienated. Lord, You see the confusion about work, about calling, about what it means to follow Your will, and You see the wound caused by hypocrisy and by counsel that felt belittling. We ask You to heal that broken heart and to draw this one back to Yourself. Forgive us for turning away from fellowship, from prayer, and from Your Word when we are hurt, and restore a hunger for Your presence. Give wisdom about employment, about Business Analyst and project management and event planning paths, and open the right doors that align with the gifts You have given. Teach humility and faithfulness in every assignment, whether small or great, and remove bitterness and the desire to invalidate others. Let Your will be done, not our own, and help this one to trust You again, to pray again, to read the Bible again, and to find a healthy fellowship of believers where Your Word is faithfully taught. We ask that You reveal Jesus as the only way to the Father, and bring salvation, peace, and direction through Him. We pray this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

We hear how painful this season has been for you. Being pushed toward work that does not fit who you are, and feeling that God's will was being used to press you into it, would leave anyone feeling belittled and alienated. It makes sense you stepped back from church and prayer when it felt like those things were causing harm rather than bringing life.

We also hear clarity in what you have learned about yourself, that you are energized by overseeing projects, improving systems and debating ideas, and drained by routine service work. That self understanding matters. In our experience, discerning next steps often involves looking honestly at those gifts and interests alongside wise counsel, rather than one narrow prescription of what following God must look like.

If it feels doable, one gentle next step could be to note the kinds of managerial or project tasks that most fit you, and share that list with one trusted person who respects both your faith and your professional background, to help you sort options without pressure.

Father, we bring our friend to You in Jesus name. You see the hurt and the frustration with work and with people who spoke for You. Bring healing where there has been harm, restore a sense of dignity and direction, and guide the next open door for work that fits the gifts You have given. Keep drawing near even in this distant season. Amen.

Your words carry a wound that is plain to hear, and I would not make light of it. You have felt pressed by the counsel of others who spoke of the will of God as though it were their own will, directing you toward work that seemed unfitting while you desired to use the gifts God has given you in a more managerial and overseeing kind. When men claim to speak for God and do so unwisely or harshly, it can indeed alienate and weary the soul, and it is no wonder you feel a bitterness toward those who have thus dealt with you.

Yet I must speak to you plainly and in love, for the path you have taken in response will not heal that wound. You say you now do not pray and do not read the Bible and will not go to church, as though by this you invalidate their efforts. Dear soul, you do not invalidate them, you impoverish yourself. To cut off prayer and the Word and the assembly of the saints because men have misused those holy things is to punish your own soul for the fault of others. The Word says, They shall look upon Him whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. There is a bitterness which is gracious. Our first true sight of Christ brings bitterness into the soul, not bitterness against men, but mourning over sin and over our piercing of Him. And that bitterness has a sanctifying power. It makes Christ sweet, it takes away the charms of the world, and it takes away all bitterness against our fellow men. If you cherish bitterness against those who hurt you, it will canker within you. If you turn that sorrow into mourning before Christ, it will soften and sanctify you.

You must learn to distinguish the voice of man from the voice of God. Much that is called the will of God is only the judgment of man. Effectual calling is not the urging of men, it is the gracious work of the Holy Spirit. It is a holy calling, a high calling, a heavenly calling, a call from heaven and to heaven, not merely to a station or a salary. Have you been called not of man but of God, and can you detect in your calling the hand of God and the voice of God. If man alone calls you, you are uncalled. The Lord Jesus often comes into contact with His sheep, and when He calls them by what we call effectual calling, then the sheep hear His voice and they rise up at once and follow Him, for they know His voice. He calls each by name, as a father calls his own child, very plainly and personally. Do not therefore confound a mistaken counsel about McDonalds or plumbing or managerial place with the true call of Christ. God may call a gifted man to oversee and to propose and to improve, and He may also call him at seasons to humble and routine labor for the proving of his character. The question is not whether a job flatters your personality, but whether you are willing to follow Christ with all your heart and to be faithful in whatever honest work His providence sets before you, while you also steward with diligence the gifts of mind and leadership He has entrusted to you.

You say the court now lies in God's hands. There you speak truly. Vengeance and vindication belong to the Lord, and He will judge righteously between you and those who have belittled you. Leave that court to Him, and do not harden your own heart in the waiting.

And as to prayer and the Bible and the church, I beseech you to return. Jesus still cries, Come unto Me, and He stands in the midst of His brethren and calls to those outside, Come unto Me. If you have a desire to come, though it be through much ashes and confusion, it is because Christ is calling you. You write as one who once knew something of these things and has turned aside. Hear then the word of restoration. Peter fell grievously and denied his Lord, yet a look from the Lord broke his heart, and he went out and wept bitterly. That bitter weeping was the beginning of his healing, and the Lord afterward restored him with a threefold charge to feed His sheep. So it is with many backsliders. You may have been a member of a church or near to it, but you are not fit to be away from Christ. And if this be the church you have been grieved by, I can speak for all faithful servants of God, none could be more willing to receive you back again than we are. When those who have sinned grossly or wandered coldly come back truly penitent, they will love Christ better than ever, for they have had much forgiven.

Do not let a personality test tell you who you are. Whether you are called enterprising or debating or overseeing, your true identity and calling must be in Christ. He has made you and He knows you by name.

I pray for you now, not that God would bless your resolve to stay away from Him, for that I cannot ask, but that He would have mercy upon you and draw you effectually to Himself. May the Lord give you a true mourning for sin and a sweet sight of Christ crucified, may He take away your bitterness against men and give you a forgiving spirit, may He restore to you the love of prayer and of His Word and of the fellowship of His people, and may He guide you in providence to honest and fitting labor wherein you may serve Him faithfully, whether in overseeing much or in doing humble work with a humble heart, until He brings you to that better Canaan to which He calls His own. Make haste and come down, as Zaccheus did, for Christ is passing by and He calls you by name.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your message has been heard, and the pain in it is clear. You have felt pushed and belittled by people who spoke as if they knew God's will for your work, telling you to take any job at hand even when it did not fit your training and gifts, and you have felt the hurt of that so deeply that you have stepped away from prayer, from Scripture, and from gathering with the church. It is right to name that hurt honestly before God.

We must make a careful distinction here. People can speak presumptuously and call their own advice the will of God, but their words are not God's words. When others do this, it does not mean that God Himself has belittled you or that His will is against you. Faith often goes beyond our human reasonings and beyond the narrow judgments of others, and it learns to look to Christ Himself rather than to the opinions that have wounded us. To turn away from God because people have misrepresented Him only adds a second wound to the first, and it leaves you without the very help you need.

You have said you will no longer pray or read the Bible or meet with the church because harm came through those who used prayer. Please hear this with care. We are always in need of prayer, and we are always in need of the prayers of others for us. Even the apostles, who were far ahead of us in faith, needed the church praying earnestly for them. The reason we need prayer most is often when we think we do not need it. And Christ Himself has built His church and promised that it will stand, not because the people in it are perfect, but because He is faithful. To stay away from Him and from His people because some people have failed you will not protect you, it will only leave you more exposed when the winds blow. Faith is what keeps us standing in the wind, and faith is kept alive by staying close to Christ in prayer, in His Word, and with His people, even when we have been hurt.

Concerning work, Scripture gives us a helpful picture. Aquila and Priscilla were tent makers, doing manual labor with their hands, and yet their home became a church and their lives became conspicuous for virtue and love. God did not despise their trade, and their trade did not hinder their service to Him. In the same way, no honest work is despised by God, whether it is managerial or manual, and no single job defines your worth before Him. It is good that you recognize your gifts, your desire to oversee, to organize, to propose ideas and improve what others are doing, and to use your mind in debate and planning. Those gifts can be used well in project management and in event planning and in many other forms of stewardship. But let that desire be shaped by humility rather than by contempt for other kinds of labor. The question is not whether a job is impressive in the eyes of others, but whether you are walking faithfully, humbly, and usefully before the Lord in whatever place He has set you for now, while you seek the next step with wisdom.

You are right to want work that fits your abilities, and it is right to pursue a path like project management where your strengths in oversight and improvement can serve others. Do so not as a way to prove those who hurt you wrong, and not as a way to keep score against them, but as a way to serve Christ and your neighbor with the mind He has given you. And do not let a personality test become the final word on who you are. It can describe patterns, but it cannot define your calling. Only God can do that, and He speaks most clearly through His Word, through prayer, and through the counsel of mature and humble believers, not through those who use spiritual language to pressure you.

I will pray for you, and I ask you to allow the church to pray for you as well.

Father, I pray for this one who has been hurt by the words of others and who now feels alienated from You. Heal the wound that has made prayer and Scripture and fellowship feel unsafe. Give wisdom for the search for work, give open doors for honest labor that uses the gifts You have given, and give humility and confidence together. Draw this heart back to confidence in prayer and faith, back to Your Word, and back to meeting with Your people, so that faith may be steadfast and not overthrown when the wind blows. Lead by Your mercy, and keep this life rooted in Jesus Christ, through whom alone we are saved and in whom alone we have hope. Amen.

If you are willing, take one small step back toward the Lord this week. Open the Gospel of Mark or the Psalms for a few minutes each day, offer a brief honest prayer even if it is only Lord help my unbelief, and seek out one faithful, quiet congregation or one mature believer to talk with, not to find a job placement but to hear Christ again.

Your honesty about being hurt comes through very clearly, and I want to take it seriously. It sounds like people around you used the language of God's will to push you toward work that felt belittling and mismatched to how God has gifted you, and that you have felt alienated and even mocked for wanting to use your managerial and oversight gifts. When prayer and Scripture were used in a way that felt controlling, it is understandable that you would want to pull away from prayer, from reading the Bible, and from gathering with other believers.

It helps to make a distinction that Scripture itself makes. The faith by which we trust Jesus for salvation is a gift from God, not something we manufacture. We are saved by grace through faith and that faith itself is given to us. There is also a special faith that God may give for a particular moment or need, and that kind of faith is not something a person can turn on at will for every situation. Even those held up as great examples of faith had real lapses. Abraham, a man of faith, at one point passed his wife off as his sister out of fear. Elijah, after great courage, ran and hid in a cave. Their lapses did not erase the reality of their faith, and a season where faith feels weak or where you step back does not have to be the final word.

In the same way, we need to separate Jesus and His simple gospel from the failures of people who claim to speak for Him. The history of what people have done in the name of the church is often shameful and cannot be defended. What can be defended is Jesus Himself and what He taught and what His first followers lived and preached. When people have misused God's will to mean their own preferences, or have made you feel that any honest work is beneath you or that only humble service jobs prove spirituality, that misuse should be named for what it is. God is not honored by pressure or belittling, and honest work in many forms can be done to the Lord. At the same time, it is right that you recognize the way God has wired you to oversee, to organize, to propose ideas and improve systems, and to lead projects rather than only carry out routine tasks. That design is part of God's gifting.

Scripture also teaches that true faith, if it is alive, will show itself in how we live. Faith alone saves, apart from works, but the faith that saves is never alone. It naturally produces a changed life and good works that confirm it. James asks how we can show our faith except by what we do. That does not mean we earn salvation by taking any job someone tells us to take, or by performing to prove ourselves. It means that when God has truly touched our hearts, there will be fruit over time in obedience, love, and service, and that fruit is the evidence, not the price, of faith.

Pulling away from prayer, from Scripture, and from fellowship may feel like taking back control after being hurt, but it also cuts you off from the very means God uses to heal, to correct false impressions of Him, and to grow faith and love. In the New Testament, when believers were under real pressure and even persecution, their faith often grew exceedingly and their love for one another abounded, because they leaned into Christ together rather than isolating. I do not want the hurt caused by others to keep you from the comfort and hope that comes from Christ Himself.

My prayer for you is that God would renew the gift of faith He first gave you to trust in Jesus, that He would heal the wounds left by those who misrepresented His will, and that He would give you wisdom for work that fits the gifts He has placed in you, whether that is in project management or other forms of planning and leadership. Ask Him to show you what is truly from Him and what is merely human opinion, and to lead you back to His Word and to prayer not as a burden or a tool for others, but as a place to hear His voice. And ask Him to lead you to a fellowship where faith, love, service and patience are evident, where you can be encouraged and where you can encourage others, even as you guard your heart from past harm.

You are not disqualified by a season of doubt or distance. The Lord knows how to restore and to fulfill the good work of faith with power in those who turn to Him. May He count you worthy of His calling and give you peace as you seek Him again.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer.

We have continued to lift you up before the Lord, especially concerning the hurt and frustration you shared about work and church. We have prayed for your desire to use the gifts God has given you in a managerial and project management direction where you can oversee, create, and propose ideas to improve things, and for the pain you felt when you were encouraged toward roles like service crew or plumber work that felt unfeasible, alienating, and belittling to you and did not match your calling as a business analyst. We have also prayed about the sense of hypocrisy you experienced when others spoke of following Gods will, and how that has led you to step away from church, from prayer, and from reading the Bible because of the harm you felt.

We ask the Lord to heal the hurt that has caused this distance and to show you His true will which is not to belittle you but to value you as His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works as taught in Eph 2:10. We pray He brings clarity to your vocational path, opens doors for work that fits the way He has wired you, and surrounds you with counsel that honors both your abilities and your dignity. We pray He draws near to you in this season and gently restores your trust in Him, for the Lord is near to the brokenhearted as promised in Psalm 34:18, and we pray you will experience His plans to give you hope and a future according to Jeremiah 29:11.

We pray all of this in Jesus Name.

We are still standing with you. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
