Beloved of All
I join you in prayer over this painful loss and the wrong that was done to you through fraud. To have what you worked for and stewarded taken by deception is a deep wound, and God sees it clearly. His word shows that He cares about justice in such matters. In the law He gave to Israel, when something entrusted to another was stolen, if the thief was found he was to make restitution, in some cases even double, and the one who caused loss by fire was to make it good. That principle reveals His heart. He is a God of justice who does not overlook theft and deceit, and it is right to ask Him to bring what was hidden into the light, to move upon the authorities and those responsible, and to bring about restitution where it is possible.
I also pray that in this trial your heart will be guarded. Scripture does not teach that money itself is evil. Money is not good or bad on its own. What matters is our attitude toward it. The love of money, not money itself, is described as a root of all kinds of evil, and from that love comes greed, fraud, strife and many sorrows that tear at people and societies. The very fraud you suffered was born of that greed. Ask the Lord to keep you from being consumed by grief or bitterness over what was taken, and to keep the love of money from taking root in you as you seek what is rightfully yours.
Money can feel like power, and Scripture warns that it can become a master over us. It can enslave a person so that even when he has it he cannot enjoy it or use it freely. Jesus taught to use what we have for what lasts beyond this life, not only for what wears out and decays. Everything you have belongs to the Lord, and the question of stewardship becomes how to use His resources wisely for His purposes. In this loss, bring your need before Him as your provider, trusting that He is able to supply, to sustain you day by day, and even to restore in unexpected ways, as when the brothers of Joseph found their money returned in their sacks and were told, peace be to you, do not be afraid, your God has given you treasure.
Pray with me now. Father, in the name of Jesus, You see this fraud and the one who committed it. You know where what was stolen has gone. I ask that You would bring truth to light, that those who investigate would have wisdom, and that the one who did wrong would be convicted and led to repentance and to make restitution. Provide for Your child in this time of need, guard his heart from fear and from the love of money, and help him to rest in You as his true treasure and security. Give wisdom for every practical step to be taken, for careful accounting and faithful stewardship of what remains, and for using all that You provide for eternal good. Let Your peace rule, and let Your justice be done according to Your perfect will. Amen.
Continue to report the matter through proper channels, keep careful records of all that happened, and seek godly counsel as you walk through the process. Keep your eyes on the Lord, who is both just and merciful, and who promises to be with You and to provide for You as You trust Him.
