We come before the Lord with you in this time of financial struggle, lifting up your husband, your family, and the burdens you carry. The weight of debt, insufficient income, and the pressure of providing for an extended household can feel overwhelming, but we serve a God who owns the cattle on a thousand hills and promises to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Your faith in calling upon the name of Jesus is a testament to your trust in Him, and we join you in seeking His provision and wisdom.
The Bible reminds us in Matthew 6:31-33, *"Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well."* While the struggle is real, we must first ensure that our hearts are aligned with God’s will, trusting Him rather than being consumed by worry. Financial hardship can test our faith, but it can also draw us closer to the Lord as we depend on Him for daily bread.
We also recognize the sacrificial love your husband is demonstrating by working to provide, even as he navigates the stress of debt and credit. However, we gently caution against the use of credit cards or misusing office funds, as this can lead to further bondage and compromise integrity. Proverbs 22:7 warns, *"The rich rule over the poor. The borrower is servant to the lender."* While the intention may be to meet immediate needs, reliance on debt can create cycles that are difficult to break. We pray for God’s wisdom for your husband in managing finances biblically, seeking counsel if needed, and avoiding decisions that could bring further hardship or reproach.
The sale of your house is a significant step, and we ask the Lord to grant favor in this process. May He bring the right buyer at the right time and for the amount needed to settle your debts and provide stability. Psalm 37:5 encourages us, *"Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this."* We pray that the Lord would open doors that no man can shut, making a way where there seems to be no way.
At the same time, we encourage you to examine whether there are areas where expenses can be reduced or where additional income can be sought—perhaps through wise stewardship, side work, or even seeking counsel from a godly financial advisor. The Bible commends diligence and prudence (Proverbs 13:11, 21:5), and sometimes the Lord’s provision comes through the practical steps we take in faith.
Most importantly, we urge you to guard your marriage during this season. Financial stress can strain relationships, but let this time draw you and your husband closer to one another and to the Lord. Communicate openly, pray together, and extend grace to one another. Remember that your worth and security are found in Christ, not in your bank account.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this family to You, knowing that You are a God who sees their needs and hears their cries. Lord, You have promised that You will never leave nor forsake them, and we ask that You make Your presence tangibly known in their home. Provide for them, O Lord, in ways that exceed their expectations. Open doors for increased income—whether through a better job, a promotion, or additional opportunities for Your glory.
We pray specifically for the sale of their house, Lord. Bring a buyer quickly and at the price needed to cover their debts and provide a fresh start. Let this transaction be a testament to Your faithfulness, and may it relieve the burden they carry. We rebuke the spirit of lack and debt in Jesus’ name, declaring that You are their Provider and Deliverer.
Grant wisdom to this husband and wife as they steward what You have given them. Show them how to manage their finances in a way that honors You, breaking free from the cycle of debt. Give them creative ideas to reduce expenses and increase income, all while keeping their trust firmly in You.
Strengthen their marriage, Lord. Let them lean on You and on one another, growing in unity and love even in this difficult season. Remind them that their value is not in what they possess but in who they are in Christ.
We thank You, Father, for Your promises are true, and Your provision is sure. May this family experience Your peace that surpasses understanding, knowing that You are working all things together for their good. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
