We lift this request before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing that struggles—whether seen or unseen—can weigh heavily on the soul. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 34:17-18, "The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Even when the details are hidden from us, they are never hidden from God. He sees every burden, every tear, and every silent battle.
First, we must address the foundation of our faith. If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes through confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). Without this relationship with Christ, we have no true access to the Father or the power to overcome life’s struggles. If this is where you stand, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw you to repentance and faith in Jesus today.
For those who are already in Christ, we declare that your struggles are not in vain. The enemy may seek to use them to discourage, distract, or destroy, but we rebuke his lies in the name of Jesus. God’s Word tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." Whatever you are facing, God has already provided a way through it.
If this struggle involves sin—whether it be bitterness, unforgiveness, addiction, sexual immorality, or any other disobedience—we must confront it with truth. Hebrews 12:1 urges us to "lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us." Confess your sins to the Lord, for He is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse you (1 John 1:9). Do not let shame or pride keep you from receiving His mercy.
If this struggle is a trial of faith, remember that God uses these moments to refine us. James 1:2-4 says, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." The fire of affliction is not meant to consume you but to purify you, making you more like Christ.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment. If this struggle is clouding your judgment or causing confusion, ask God for clarity. James 1:5 promises, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." Do not lean on your own understanding, but trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts that ache for our brother or sister in Christ who is carrying this burden. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who delivers. We ask that You would reveal Yourself in a powerful way to them in the midst of this struggle. If there is unconfessed sin, bring it to light and grant them the courage to repent and turn from it. If this is a trial of faith, strengthen their trust in You and remind them that You are working all things together for their good (Romans 8:28).
Father, we rebuke the spirit of despair, fear, and hopelessness that may be whispering lies to them. We declare that Your truth is greater than any lie, and Your power is greater than any struggle. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Surround them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel Your nearness in a tangible way.
If this struggle is meant to draw them closer to You, use it for that purpose. If it is meant to equip them to help others, prepare them for that calling. Whatever the enemy intended for harm, Lord, we ask that You would turn it around for Your glory and their good.
We pray for breakthrough, Lord. Break every chain, shatter every stronghold, and silence every voice that does not align with Your Word. Let Your light shine into the darkest places of this struggle, and let Your healing flow. We trust You, Father, and we declare that this struggle will not define them—You will.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
