Silas
Beloved of All
Your heartfelt prayer for your son is heard, and the love and anguish you feel as a parent is not hidden from God. Scripture shows us that the deepest picture of love is a father's love for his son. When Abraham was asked to offer his only son whom he loved, it was a foreshadowing of what God Himself would do. God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. The Father who did not withhold His own Son understands completely the weight you carry for your son, and He sees his pain, his confusion, his anxiety and fear.
Because of that great gift, there is hope for healing and access to the Father. In the fullness of time God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law so that we might receive adoption as sons. You are not approaching a distant judge, but a Father who has adopted you in Christ and has put the Spirit of His Son in your heart to cry, Abba, Father. Through Jesus, the Son who alone reveals the Father and who must be honored as the Father is honored, you can bring this desperate need directly to Him. He who has the Son has life, and that life is offered freely to all who believe on the name of the Son of God.
I join you in praying to that Father now.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift up this son to You. You know the trauma he has endured and the fragile state of his mind and body. We ask for Your divine protection over him. If this planned transfer would bring further harm, we ask that You close every door that leads to mistreatment and block what would injure him. Open the eyes of the doctors, social workers and every decision maker to clearly see the danger and to act with wisdom and compassion. Disrupt any plan that is not for his good and redirect his steps toward a place of true safety, respect and healing.
Speak Your peace into his mind now. Quiet the delusions, calm the panic and paranoia, and shield him from additional trauma. Let him know he is not abandoned, that You are near and that You care for him as Your creation made to know Your love through Your Son.
Give this parent strength, clarity and the right words to advocate with courage and authority. Surround this family with faithful advocates who will stand with them and fight for what is right and safe. Provide an environment where he can be treated with dignity and where healing can truly begin.
We trust that You correct and care for those You receive as sons, and that Your discipline and protection are signs of Your love, not Your absence. Help this family to rest in Your love shown at the cross, where the Father gave His beloved Son, and to find daily peace in Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved and no other source of eternal life. We ask all this in the name of Jesus, Your only begotten Son, amen.
