We lift this dear one up before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of depression, anxiety, and overwhelming circumstances can feel crushing. The scriptures remind us that our Heavenly Father is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We declare that the darkness does not have the final word—Jesus came to bring light and life, and He is able to break every chain that seeks to bind this precious soul (John 1:5, Isaiah 61:1).
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that has taken root in his mind and spirit. Your Word declares that you have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that every lie from the enemy—every thought that tells him he is trapped, unworthy, or alone—would be silenced by the truth of Your Word. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We ask that You would open doors no man can shut—doors of provision, stability, and opportunity—so that he may walk into the future You have prepared for him (Revelation 3:8).
Father, we also pray for healing from past trauma and shame. Your Word tells us that by Your stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and that You cast all our sins into the depths of the sea (Micah 7:19). We ask that You would replace self-doubt with the assurance of Your love and purpose for his life. Remind him that he is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that Your grace is sufficient for him (2 Corinthians 12:9). Surround him with godly support—people who will speak life, encouragement, and truth into his situation. Let him feel Your presence in the quiet moments, knowing that You are with him always (Matthew 28:20).
We also want to gently address the relationship mentioned in this request. If this love you speak of is romantic in nature, we encourage you to prayerfully consider whether this relationship aligns with God’s design for marriage—a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this person is not your spouse, we urge you to guard your heart and seek the Lord’s will for your relationship. The Bible warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14) and to flee from sexual immorality (1 Corinthians 6:18). If this relationship is not built on a foundation of faith in Christ and a commitment to marriage, we pray for wisdom and discernment for both of you.
Above all, we pray that this dear one would come to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior if he has not already. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and it is only through Him that we find true peace, healing, and hope. If he does not yet have a personal relationship with Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw him near and reveal the love of the Father to him.
Lord, we trust You to move mightily in this situation. Strengthen him when he is weak, lift him when he is down, and remind him that his story is not over. You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we believe You are working even now to bring beauty from ashes. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
