Prayer for sister mental health stability and healing

Please pray for my sister who had been struggling with her mental health. Never had issues prior. She was functioning, working, going to school, helping in youth ministry, witnessing ministry, and everything took a turn around. I been taking care of her for one year and it seems to never get better. I cry in tears everyday for my sister. It hurts me so much to see her suffering and see the person she used to be and how the enemy has stolen so much from her. Sometimes I feel like God is silent. Even the place she receives treatment from like medications and so on has been a terrible experience. They start her on medications and don’t follow the treatment plan and leave her for weeks. We call and they ignore our calls. I always ask God to help us and just want to see better days for her. I pray and ask God to restore her life, heal my sister, restore her independence, and let her to be happy again. To feel like herself again.

We join you in lifting up your sister before the throne of grace and we weep with you over the pain of watching someone you love so dearly suffer so deeply. We see your faithfulness in caring for her for a year, your tears every day, and your love that has not grown weary. God sees it too and He has not forgotten her or you. He keeps your tears in His bottle and He is near even when He feels silent.

You shared that it feels like God is silent and we want to gently encourage you with truth. Silence does not mean absence. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. He promises that when we are overwhelmed, when our heart is faint, we can cry to Him and He will lead us to the rock that is higher than we are Psalm 61:2. He also says fear not, for I am with you. Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. Your sister's sudden struggle after being so faithful in work and school and youth ministry and witnessing does not mean God has abandoned her. We live in a fallen world where our minds and bodies can suffer, and the enemy does seek to steal and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly John 10:10. We pray against every work of the enemy over her mind and life and we ask God to restore what has been stolen, for He is the One who heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3, and who says But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and we pray He will replace confusion and heaviness with His peace that passes all understanding Philippians 4:7.

We also grieve with you over the terrible experience with her treatment, the medications started and not followed through, the calls ignored for weeks. This adds such a burden when you are already carrying so much. We pray for wisdom and advocacy for you as you care for her, that God will lead you to compassionate and competent help, whether through doctors, counselors, and pastors who will truly listen and follow through. We pray the Lord will give her providers diligence and integrity and open a door to better care. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God Philippians 4:6. Keep bringing every detail to Him and also keep seeking help from the body of Christ, your pastor, elders, and trusted believers who can bear this burden with you and pray with you in person. Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ Galatians 6:2. You were not meant to carry this alone, and He will give rest to you who are weary and heavy laden Matthew 11:28.

We noticed in your request you speak often of God and prayer, which is beautiful, but you did not mention the name of Jesus. We want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because of His shed blood on the cross and His resurrection that we can boldly approach God and be heard, forgiven, and healed. If you have not already, we encourage you and your sister to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and calling on His name. Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved Romans 10:13. It is in His name that we pray with confidence for healing and restoration.

We now pray together for your sister and for you.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this precious sister to You. You know her by name, You formed her, You called her to serve You in youth ministry and to witness for You, and You see how she is suffering now. Lord we ask You to touch her mind, her body, and her spirit. Bring stability where there is turmoil, clarity where there is confusion, and peace where there is fear. Heal her, restore her, and let her feel like herself again, even more whole in You. Restore her independence, her joy, and her hope, and let her be able to work and study and serve You again as You lead her. Break every chain of the enemy and fill her with Your Holy Spirit, Your power, love and sound mind. Lead her to the right treatment and to people who will care for her with excellence and compassion, and convict those who have neglected her to act with diligence. And Father we lift up this faithful sibling who has cared for her for a year with tears. Strengthen them when they are weary, comfort them when they feel You are silent, remind them daily that You hear every prayer and collect every tear. Renew their strength as they wait on You Isaiah 40:31, and surround them with Your church to help bear this burden. We ask all of this in the mighty and healing name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We hear how heavy this past year has been and we have been holding you and your sister in prayer. Watching someone you love who was active in work, school and ministry struggle so much, and crying every day as you care for her, is a hard burden to carry. Feeling like God is silent in that does not mean you are failing in faith, it often means you are tired and need support too.

The way her treatment team has been unresponsive sounds exhausting and discouraging. Alongside prayer, it can help to have another advocate in your corner. If you have a primary care clinic or a patient advocate you can contact, bringing a simple written note with her current medications, dates you called and what you were told can sometimes help you get a clearer response or a referral for a second opinion. You do not have to navigate those calls alone, ask a pastor, family member or trusted friend to help you make them and keep track.

Please also make room for your own care. Caring for someone day after day for a year can wear anyone down. Having one or two people who check in on you, give you a break, or just listen, matters.

Father, we bring this sister to You and ask for Your healing presence, steadiness and peace for her, and for wisdom for those treating her. Sustain the one caring for her so faithfully, give rest, encouragement and clear next steps, and remind them You are near even when answers feel slow. In Jesus' name, amen.

In Jesus mighty name we pray Amen. Thank you so much. Very encouraging

I don’t really have anybody else except for a case manager. My family does not know how to navigate these calls or understand any of these things. I will ask the case manager and see how that goes. The church I went to does not really understand these things either or understand mental health unfortunately. Plus my sister wants me to keep her i formation private so I just reach out to prayer groups.

Your tears and your long and loving care for your sister have been laid before the Lord with deep sympathy. To see one so lately full of vigour, working and studying and serving the young and bearing witness for Christ, now so cast down in mind, and to have watched over her for a whole year with little sign of relief, must be a very heavy burden. It is no wonder that you weep daily and that at times it seems as if God were silent, and the added sorrow of finding earthly help so cold, when those appointed to care have left her without due attention and have not answered your cries, makes the trial still more bitter.

Yet the Lord has not forgotten you nor your sister. Heaven is the abode of Jesus and Jesus is the Tree of Life, and its leaves are for the healing of His people here below. There is but one sacred Fountain opened on Calvary, and but one great Physician who lays His hands upon men and they are restored. We very speedily seek physicians for the body, but for the broken heart and the wounded spirit there is a greater healing provided. He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, and what He begins He will carry on till the soul is kept in perpetual health by His abiding power.

There is no stint in His healing power. If the sufferer does but come to Jesus and touch the hem of His garment, though the soul be full of distress, the Saviour is full of grace. Pardon and healing are one in His hands, for when the Sun of Righteousness arises upon His people it is with healing in His wings. The fruit of the Spirit is afterwards joy and peace, but for a season we must endure much mental agony, and in that season the Lord draws near to do His own work apart from all mere instrumentality.

You pray that your sister may be restored to herself, to independence and to gladness, and we join our prayers with yours for perfect restoration. Our God can give back early joy, so that you may yet praise Him every day, now His anger is turned away and comfortable thoughts arise from the bleeding Sacrifice. Peter was down but he was soon up again, restored by a look from the Lord, and that same look can sever your sister from the throng of fears that press upon her. He took the fevered one by the hand and lifted her up, and as His cool hand grasped the fevered hand, His health flowed into her. So He is able to lift up your sister and to work in her that quiet strength and soundness of mind which you so earnestly desire.

We will pray for her and for you. We will ask the Lord to grant stability and healing to her mind, to restore to her steadiness and hope, to give her again to know herself and to rejoice in Him, and in due time to restore her to useful service as He did for Peter when He said, Feed my sheep. We will ask Him to guide those who have charge of her treatment to greater faithfulness and wisdom, and to sustain you under the daily strain of care, that you may not faint while you wait upon Him.

O Lord our God, look in mercy upon this afflicted sister and upon the one who loves her and weeps for her. Thou art the one great Physician, lay Thy healing hand upon her. Let the healing leaves of the Tree of Life fall upon her and keep her. Lift her up and restore her to health of body and peace of mind, and give her to sing again with gladness of heart. Comfort the weary watcher at her side, let not her tears be in vain, and teach you both to hear Thy voice even when Thou seemest silent, for Thou art near to them that are of a broken heart. Grant this for Jesus sake, in whom alone is our salvation and our hope. Amen.
