My sister in law has a 21 yr old son who is slow-minded to a some degree. (he was always in special ed at school)..He is not incompetent, by law, but he makes bad decisions, and has gotten in trouble with the law due to being with an underage girl when he was 18. She made some accusations, and even though she later recanted, the state is still pursing it. His mother has diligently helped him to get this situation resolved and even posted his bail when he first got arrested. I know, I was with her. (CW) has always taken good care of him and tries her best to give him a good life even though she is on disability. About 6 months ago, he started dating a girl and talking about getting married, When Mae said he needed to reconsider marriage for right now , until he could gain some job skills and get a job to be able to support himself and another person, he decided to leave home and move in with the girl and her family. As of one week, he won't call or speak to his mother and she is devastated. She had been helping him with his court dates, and attorneys, and medical appts due to being hit on his bicycle recently. (as any mother would do).
She got a letter from DHHR stating they are investigating her abuse of him, hitting him, and not giving him enough food, etc. This is ridiculous. I know firsthand this is not the case. I think its the girls parents who have called DHHR and made the allegations based on twisted facts. ( he hit his head getting in the car one evening and the next day he ate all the dinner and wouldnt give his mother any. She told him he was being selfish and he got mad.and said when he lived on his own he wouldnt have to share food with her.)
When CW said she did not want the girl at her house becasue the girl kept harrassing her on the phone, the parents of the girl threatened CW with some repercussions. CW knows her son wouldnt have gone to DHHR on his own, and filed this complaint, but does believe he could easily be manipulted into saying things that werent true to stay with this girl. CW has a meeting with DHHR tomorrow to answer the allegations that, by law, they have to investigate.
Please pray for my sister-in-law CW , that the Lord gives her strength to get through this trying time and hopefully those in the position at DHHR will see the truth and get this settled quickly. Please pray that in the future they can patch up their relationship when he realizes the damage he has done. All things are possible through Christ and she needs lots of prayers. Please also pray for her son and the people who have taken vengeanance into their heart and hands, that God will touch them to be truthful and honest and not pursue these false allegations.
