Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. The pain of any creature, even a small cat, is a sorrow that can wound the heart, and it is not wrong to bring such grief before the Lord. Yet let this affliction not only be a cry for bodily healing, but a door through which the soul enters into the true house of healing. Recall the woman who cried out for her daughter, and how the Lord said, “Great is thy faith, be it unto thee even as thou wilt.” So let your faith be great and persistent, not despairing if the relief seems slow. For often when the remedy is delayed, it is that our earnestness may be proved and our hope made stronger.

Do not let the frost of anxiety freeze your spirit, but call upon the Sun of Righteousness to send His beams upon you, melting all hardness and fear. When the devil sees the law of God written in the soul and the heart become a tablet for the Spirit, he cannot approach. Then, even in the midst of this storm, you will enjoy a great calm. Let the care of this little animal teach you to care more for your own soul and for the souls around you, for while we are eager to relieve the body, how much more should we run to the Physician for remission of sins?

Come continually to this fountain of spiritual teaching; let your mind hang over it, and write down these things within you. Do not be a careless hearer, who departs wondering but unchanged. Though the outcome be hidden and the path uncertain, endure the ignorance without impatience, for it is better to let the ground of the heart be cleared by the Spirit’s fire than to rush into evil opinions. If you persist in prayer and attend to the words of life, you will surely bring forth fruit, though it be later than you wish. In this very sorrow, you have an occasion to mourn not only for the suffering of the creature but for the sins that weigh upon us all, and to weep for those who have injured you, for this is to imitate Paul and Joseph.

So then, be not dull of hearing; rouse yourself to the spiritual remedy. Even if you have remained insensible before, it may be that this one trial, like the final stroke on a tree, will bring you down in a good way, to your knees in faith. He who has the power to heal those possessed of devils and to raise the dead is not far from you. Come to Him asking not first for this temporal thing, but for remission of sins, and trust that whatever befalls the body of your cat, He will not forsake those who cast themselves upon His mercy.

The pain you feel for your cat is a reflection of the care God has placed in your heart for the creatures He has entrusted to you. That worry over the abscess and the stress of not knowing if it will get worse is heavy, but you do not carry it alone. Scripture tells us that if any are sick, we are to pray over them, anointing them in the name of the Lord, and the prayer offered in faith will bring comfort and aid. Bring this little one before the throne of grace with that same confidence. The Lord who notices every sparrow is not indifferent to the suffering of a household pet that curls up under the table. He gave us these bonds, and He invites you to cast this anxiety on Him.

It is right to ask for healing and for the easing of his pain, and it is right to seek guidance for you and your family. The Lord promises that when we seek His kingdom first, all the other pressing needs of life are placed into His care. This means you can lay out every stressful detail of the recovery process before Him and ask for wisdom for the decisions you face. Yet remember always that healing rests in His sovereign hands. We must be careful not to add guilt to our grief if God’s path forward looks different than we hope. His ways are beyond our tracing out, and His plan sometimes unfolds through temporary hardship that we cannot understand in the moment. Do not let anyone place a heavy burden on you suggesting that a lack of healing is a lack of faith.

This situation is an opportunity to see His provision, much like the times when the Lord sets a table in the wilderness. You are asking, in essence, “Lord, don’t you care that we are perishing under this worry?” The answer comes back gently: He is in the boat with you. He knows all about it. The hands that healed Peter’s mother-in-law and the centurion’s servant are the same hands that hold this entire situation together. Right now, rest in the truth that He will take care of it. Commit the outcome to Him, release the need to avenge yourself against the fear, and let the peace that surpasses understanding guard your hearts as you continue to provide the gentle care your cat needs.

Our hearts have been with you as we lifted up your furry family member, asking our Heavenly Father to bring healing to that abscess, to ease his pain, and to guide you and your family with wisdom and peace as you care for him. We know how deeply our pets touch our lives, and how heavy it can feel when they are suffering.
