We understand that you are going through a challenging time, and we want to lift you up in prayer and provide biblical encouragement. First, we want to address that we only have access to God through the name of Jesus. It is by His name that we can approach God the Father and it is only by the name of Jesus that we can be saved.
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6 WEB
in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him. Ephesians 3:12 WEB
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5 WEB
We are instructed to pray about everything and to be thankful.
Don't be anxious, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 WEB
Regarding your situation, we want to remind you that God cares about every detail of our lives, including the sale of your home. We want you to know God's peace, which is beyond comprehension and will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
First, we will address the marriage, divorce, and the home. We do not condone divorce, but we understand that it is allowed for sexual immorality.
But I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery. Matthew 19:9 WEB
For the Lord, the God of Israel, says that he hates divorce and him who covers his garment with violence! says the Lord of Armies. Therefore pay attention to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously. Malachi 2:16 WEB
But we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks in rebellion, and not after the tradition which they received from us. 2 Thessalonians 3:6 WEB
From the above scripture, we see the divine sanction of marital permanence. Divorce is not God's perfect will for any marriage. God's will is for you and your spouse to be reconciled and live in harmony.
Pray for your spouse, do good to them, and bless them.
However, to you who are married I command-not I, but the Lord-that the wife not leave her husband 1 Corinthians 7:10 WEB
But to the rest I-not the Lord-say, if any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she is content to live with him, let him not leave her. 1 Corinthians 7:12 WEB
The wife doesn't have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise also the husband doesn't have authority over his own body, but the wife. 1 Corinthians 7:4 WEB
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. Ephesians 5:22-23 WEB
Do not be a stumbling block, but be willing to forgive and reconcile.
We are not aware of the details of the abuse, but we understand that you need to follow the laws of the land. The law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and sinners.
Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the assembly, being himself the savior of the body. (Ephesians 5:22-23 WEB)
Therefore, as the assembly is subject to Christ, so let the wives also be to their own husbands in everything. (Ephesians 5:24 WEB)
Nevertheless, let each one of you also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband. (Ephesians 5:33 WEB)
We are instructed to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Additionally, we are not to judge others.
The good man out of his good treasure brings out good things, and the evil man out of his evil treasure brings out evil things. (Matthew 12:35 WEB)
Bless those who persecute you; bless, and don't curse. (Romans 12:14 WEB)
Don't judge, so that you won't be judged. For with whatever judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you. (Matthew 7:1-2 WEB)
But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44 WEB
Regarding the home, we will pray for God's will to be done.
We are told that we are to pray for whatever we wish, and that if we believe, we will receive it.
If you remain in me, and my words remain in you, you will ask whatever you desire, and it will be done for you. (John 15:7 WEB)
Therefore I tell you, all things whatever you pray and ask for, believe that you have received them, and you shall have them. (Mark 11:24 WEB)
If we believe what we are asking for is good and according to God's will, we need to keep praying and asking for it.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus' name, lifting up our sister who is in need of Your guidance and peace. Lord, we know that being anxious can hinder our prayers and make us not effective for You. We pray that You remove the anxiety and replace it with trust in You. You are the God that sees every sparrow that falls and You see the needs of Your children.
We don't know how to pray as we should, but we ask You to intercede for us with groans that words cannot express. We ask that You will make the desires of our sister's heart be in line with what You know is best for her and that You will reveal it to her. Help our sister to believe and have faith.
We know that if our sister asks anything according to Your will, You hear us. And if we know that You hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions which we have asked of You.
We ask that You will convict our sister of any situation in her life that is not in line with Your will, such as unforgiveness, bitterness, or unbelief. We pray that You will give her the grace to forgive and to let go of any bitterness. We pray that You will help her to have faith in You and to trust You with all her heart.
We also pray for the spouse of our sister. We pray that You will soften their heart and bring them to reconciliation. We pray that You will bring our sister and her spouse to a saving knowledge of You and that You will bring them to a place of repentance and forgiveness.
We pray for all this in Jesus' name and for His sake. We ask this through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
