The church, in allowing themselves to be manipulated by influential leaders, chose status over their calling. Howbeit, because the people's response, more often than not, mirrors the response that imitates from the church. "Judgement must begin at the house of the LORD."
Even Jesus (God in the flesh), being aware of His own vulnerability, as man, needed to be protected. Therefore, He instructed His disciples to commandeer a boat so that He could get away from the crowds. His disciples did not cast Him out into the multitude to be pillaged; nor did they sanction it, by sitting by as it happened. They made a way for Jesus to be safe.
Could Jesus have provided His own safety? Of course, He could have. But, obviously, as always, He was teaching His disciples how we are to care for one another as brethren in God's family.

But listen to what GOD has to say to you who reverently respond to his Word: "Your own families hate you and turn you out because of me. They taunt you, "Let us see GOD's glory! If God's so great, why aren't you happy?' But they're the ones who are going to end up shamed."
So then, in an attempt to smooth the appearance of assault against this family member; this homeless-elder woman of God, other godly women were encouraged in their own self-righteous attacks. Naturally, the ungodly have followed suit.

But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.
Because the Word of God is not bound, like Paul and Barnabas, I shook the spiritual dust of my feet three years ago. Nevertheless, Jesus said that His disciples would sometimes have to endure physical hindrance. It's just really sad to watch my hometown mirror such overwhelming unrighteousness: and primarily over sports. Yet, so it must be, that scripture is fulfilled.

What was will be again, what happened will happen again. There's nothing new on this earth. Year after year it's the same old thing.
