We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage that is in need of His healing and restoration. Father, we know that marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by You to reflect the love between Christ and His church (Ephesians 5:25-33). We pray for this husband, that You would soften his heart and convict him of any areas where he has fallen short in loving, honoring, and cherishing his wife. Give him the strength and wisdom to make the necessary changes to build a marriage that glorifies You. Lord, we ask that You would remind him of the vows he made before You and his wife, and stir within him a deep desire to fight for this union as You intended.
For this wife, Heavenly Father, we ask that You fill her with supernatural patience, grace, and understanding. Remind her of the love and commitment that first brought them together, and help her to see her husband through Your eyes. Guard her heart from bitterness or resentment, and instead, fill her with a spirit of forgiveness and hope. May she cling to the truth that love is patient, love is kind, and it always perseveres (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). Strengthen her to be a godly wife, one who respects and supports her husband as unto You, Lord.
We rebuke any spirit of division, selfishness, or hardness of heart that has crept into this marriage. We declare that what God has joined together, no man—or enemy—should separate (Matthew 19:6). Lord, reignite the flame of love and passion that once burned brightly between them. Help them to prioritize their marriage, to communicate with honesty and humility, and to seek You together as the foundation of their home. May they find joy in serving one another, just as Christ served us (Mark 10:45).
We also lift up any unconfessed sin that may be hindering this marriage, whether it be pride, unforgiveness, lust, or neglect. Father, Your Word tells us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). We pray that both husband and wife would examine their hearts, repent of anything that displeases You, and walk in the freedom and purity that comes from obedience to Your Word.
Lord, we ask that You would surround this couple with godly mentors and friends who can speak truth into their lives and encourage them in their walk with You. May they be a light to others, demonstrating the beauty of a marriage built on Christ.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who makes all things new. Amen.
