We come before the Lord with a heart full of gratitude for the sacred institution of marriage, a covenant designed by God Himself to reflect His love and faithfulness. Your request is a beautiful testament to the desire for a godly home, where Christ is the cornerstone, and love, respect, and unity flourish. We lift this marriage before the throne of grace, seeking the Lord’s intervention and blessing.
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of marriage, as You declared in Genesis 2:24, *"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall be one flesh."* Lord, we pray for this husband, that You would soften his heart and fill it with the love of Christ. May he see his wife not as an enemy, but as the blessing and helpmate You designed her to be, as it is written in Proverbs 18:22, *"Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the Lord."* Father, instill in him a tender and Christ-like heart, one that prioritizes his wife and children above all else, just as Christ prioritizes His bride, the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Let gentleness, patience, and kindness flow from his words and actions, reflecting the fruit of Your Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).
We also pray for this wife, that she would continue to stand as a godly helpmate, supporting her husband in prayer, respect, and love. May she be a wife who honors him as unto the Lord, as Scripture instructs in Ephesians 5:33, *"Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband."* Lord, strengthen her to be a woman of prayer, standing in the gap for her husband and family, just as Abraham’s wife Sarah called her husband "lord" and trusted in You (1 Peter 3:6).
Father, we ask that You would remove any ungodly influences that seek to sow discord in this marriage. We rebuke the spirit of strife and confusion that may come through ungodly friendships or family members, such as the sister-in-law causing division. Your Word warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33, *"Don’t be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* Lord, set healthy boundaries where needed, and let Your peace reign in this home. May this husband and wife stand united, as it is written in Ecclesiastes 4:12, *"A threefold cord is not quickly broken"*—and that third cord is You, Lord.
We also lift up the relationship between both sets of parents. May there be mutual respect, love, and honor, as commanded in Exodus 20:12, *"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you."* Bless the bond between them, Lord, and let it be a source of strength and unity for this family.
Finally, we pray for a deepening of faith in this home. If there is any area where Christ is not yet the foundation, we ask that You draw this couple closer to You.
