We understand your heart's desire for restoration, but let's first bring this situation to God in Jesus's name. Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is no other name by which we can be saved.
Firstly, let's consider God's will and His ways. God desires that we live in purity and holiness, especially when it comes to relationships. If you and your ex are both believers in Jesus Christ, that's a good foundation. However, let's pray for God's will to be done and ensure that your intentions align with His will. If you are praying to God but did not mention Jesus Christ, Jesus, Christ or an abbreviation such as IJN (In Jesus Name), then you may be praying to a god that you imagine and that you want, rather than the almighty God that sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross for your sins.
If your ex is not a believer, it's important to consider what the Bible says about being unequally yoked. It is forbidden to be married to an unbeliever, much less to be courting them. Don't become a team with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? Or a believer be partnered with an unbeliever? (2 Corinthians 6:14 WEB). It can become a dangerous situation for you where you may be tempted to turn away from God.
Regarding the restoration of your relationship, you are asking for marriage to be restored. Marriage is a sacred institution designed by God. This is a serious matter and needs to be handled in a God-honoring way.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in Jesus's name, lifting up our sister who desires restoration in her relationship. We pray that Your will be done in this situation. If this relationship is not in accordance with Your will, we pray that You give her the strength to let go and move forward. If this relationship is aligned with Your word, we pray for restoration and healing of both parties. We pray for forgiveness, understanding, and love that mirrors Your love for us.
Help her to trust in You with all her heart, and not lean on her own understanding. In all her ways, let her acknowledge You, and You will make her paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB).
We pray for her peace and joy during this time. Guide her steps and help her to seek You above all else. If she is in a sexual relationship outside marriage, we pray that she will repent and turn away from this sin. If the other person is not a believer, we pray that she will be willing to let go and wait for a godly spouse.
In Jesus's name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged by these words, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 WEB)
