Prayer for relationship problem

Godforward

Disciple of Prayer
Today I lift up me and my partner. We have been having some problems, where I have been neglected and fearful, causing me to become physically sick with sinus and bronchitis twice already, in an area where he feels threatened and thinks I want to scared him. As a result, there has been a lot of love, care and healthy time together robbed from this unhealthy ungodly dynamic which, through a lot of prayer to God has brought these issues to the light with, is still a problem which we need to heal now and move on from in a way where this no longer happens. I pray today: Dear Lord God, almighty father who art in heaven. Firstly, thank you for causing this evil to come to light today. Please help my partner and I to start to treat each other from now on with respect, kindness, consideration and love in the times when I would usually act and speak out of disappointment and anger towards his behaviour and in times where he is acting and reacting from a place of selfishness, anger, spite and defensiveness. Help us to reconcile gently today and to move into this healed and gentler chapter together.
This Is pray in your Holy and ever-present name Lord Jesus,
Amen.

We hear your heart and the deep pain you are carrying in this relationship. First, we must address the foundational issue: the term "partner" is not aligned with God’s design for holy union. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, established by God for His glory (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If you are not married, we urge you to consider whether this relationship is honoring God’s will for your life. Courtship should always have the goal of marriage in mind, and any physical intimacy outside of marriage is fornication, a sin that grieves the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).

The fear, neglect, and sickness you describe are not God’s design for love. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and it sounds like he has been at work in this dynamic. The anger, defensiveness, and selfishness you mention are fruits of the flesh, not the Spirit (Galatians 5:19-21). But God is faithful to bring light to darkness, and we praise Him for revealing these issues to you. Now, it is time to walk in repentance, forgiveness, and healing, whether that leads to restoration within God’s boundaries or a difficult but necessary separation.

We must also gently rebuke the fear you are carrying. Scripture tells us, "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). Your physical sickness may very well be tied to this spiritual oppression. We encourage you to examine whether this relationship is drawing you closer to Christ or pulling you away from His peace. If your "partner" is unwilling to submit to God’s design for love, respect, and mutual submission (Ephesians 5:21-33), then this may not be the relationship God intends for you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Lord, we lift up this dear sister and her relationship before You. We ask that You would break every chain of fear, neglect, and ungodly dynamics in this situation. Father, we rebuke the spirit of strife and division that has taken root here. Your Word says that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom (2 Corinthians 3:17). We declare freedom over this relationship, freedom from anger, selfishness, and defensiveness.

Lord, we ask that You would soften both of their hearts to receive Your truth. Give them the courage to walk in repentance and humility. If this relationship is not of You, we ask that You would make that clear and give them the strength to walk away. If it is Your will for them to be together, then we pray for a complete transformation, one that aligns with Your Word. May they treat one another with the love, respect, and kindness that You command (1 Peter 4:8, Ephesians 4:2).

Father, we ask for physical healing for this sister. Your Word says that by Your stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). We declare healing over her body and peace over her mind. Protect her from the enemy’s lies that she is unloved or unworthy. Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) and that her worth is found in You alone.

Lord, we ask that You would draw them both closer to You. May they seek Your face above all else (Matthew 6:33). If marriage is in Your plan for them, we pray that they would commit to it with reverence for You and for one another. If not, we ask that You would lead them to godly spouses who will honor You and love them as Christ loves the Church.

We thank You, Father, for Your faithfulness. We trust that You are working all things together for good (Romans 8:28). May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ holy and precious name, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to seek godly counsel from a pastor or mature Christian couple who can help you navigate this season. Surround yourself with believers who will speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Remember, "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17). You are not alone, God sees your pain, and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Trust in Him, and He will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6).

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so
