Prayer for reconciliation and restoration in my marriage

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Prayer for God to soften my husband's heart and to give him a heart of reconciliation and to accept me back and fix our marriage. He discovered I had an affair and he broke up with me and he is filing for divorce. Please pray for me I acknowledge my mistake and I want to fix our marriage and work things out and be a better partner please pray for my marriage for God to restore it.

We come before the Lord with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting you and your marriage to Him, for He is the God of restoration, redemption, and miraculous healing. Your acknowledgment of sin and desire for reconciliation is a step in the right direction, for Scripture tells us, *"He who covers his sins shall not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them shall have mercy"* (Proverbs 28:13, WEB). True repentance before God is the foundation for restoration, and we commend you for seeking His face in this broken season.

The pain of infidelity is deep, and the wounds it leaves are not easily healed. Your husband’s heart is understandably hardened, for betrayal strikes at the very covenant of marriage that God designed to reflect His faithfulness to us (Ephesians 5:31-32). Yet we serve a God who specializes in the impossible—*"The things which are impossible with men are possible with God"* (Luke 18:27, WEB). He can soften the hardest heart, turn mourning into joy, and rebuild what has been torn down. Remember the story of Hosea and Gomer, where God commanded Hosea to love his unfaithful wife as a picture of His own relentless love for His wayward people (Hosea 3:1). This is the heart of our Father—He pursues, He restores, and He redeems.

That said, reconciliation is a process that requires more than words—it demands a transformed life. If you have not already, we urge you to cut off all contact with the person involved in the affair, removing every opportunity for sin to take root again. *"Flee sexual immorality! Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"* (1 Corinthians 6:18, WEB). True repentance means turning away from sin entirely and walking in obedience to God’s Word. Your husband will need to see fruit—consistent, tangible evidence of a changed heart—before trust can begin to be rebuilt. This will take time, humility, and patience.

We also encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through your pastor or a biblical counselor who can walk with you through this season. *"Where no counsel is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety"* (Proverbs 11:14, WEB). Accountability and wisdom from mature believers will be vital as you navigate this path.

Most importantly, draw near to Jesus. Your greatest need right now is not just the restoration of your marriage, but the restoration of your soul. Spend time in His Word, in prayer, and in worship. Let Him heal the brokenness in you that led to this sin. *"Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me"* (Psalm 51:10, WEB). Only when you are filled with His love and strength will you be able to love your husband as you ought.

Now, let us pray together for you and your marriage:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting our sister and her marriage to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see the brokenness, the pain, and the deep regret in her heart. We ask for Your mercy and forgiveness to wash over her as she repents of her sin. Cleanse her, Lord, and create in her a pure heart, renewed and steadfast in You.

Father, we pray for her husband—soften his heart, Lord. Break down the walls of bitterness, anger, and hurt that have risen between them. Give him a spirit of forgiveness and a willingness to seek reconciliation. Lord, You are the God who restores what the locusts have eaten (Joel 2:25), and we ask You to restore this marriage. Bring healing to their wounds, rebuild the trust that has been shattered, and unite them in a bond stronger than before.

Give our sister the strength to walk in obedience, to demonstrate true repentance through her actions, and to wait on You with patience and faith. Surround her with godly counsel and support. If it is Your will, Lord, turn her husband’s heart back to her and to You. Let this marriage be a testimony of Your redeeming power.

We rebuke the enemy’s schemes to destroy this union. No weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), for You, Lord, are its defender. Bind every spirit of division, unforgiveness, and hardness of heart. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Father, we ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, who came to seek and to save the lost, to heal the brokenhearted, and to restore all things. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this situation. Amen.

Finally, we leave you with this promise: *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit"* (Psalm 34:18, WEB). Cling to Him, trust in His timing, and walk in obedience. Whether God restores your marriage or calls you to a different path, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Stay steadfast in faith, and may His peace be your strength.

We're right here with you, sister, lifting you up in prayer. We know the heavy burden you carry, but remember, God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). He sees your repentance and desire for reconciliation, and that's a powerful start.

We're asking God to soften your husband's heart, to break down the walls of bitterness and hurt between you both. We're praying for forgiveness to flow like a river, for healing to come, and for your marriage to be restored even stronger than before. We're asking God to give you the strength to walk in obedience, to demonstrate true repentance, and to wait patiently on Him.

We're also praying for godly counsel to surround you, for wisdom to guide your steps, and for the enemy's schemes to be rebuked. We're claiming God's promise over your situation, that no weapon formed against your marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

We're here for you, sister. Let's keep lifting each other up in prayer, trusting in God's timing and His power to restore what's been broken.

We want to thank you for allowing us the sacred privilege of lifting your marriage before the Lord in these past days. Our hearts have been burdened alongside yours as we’ve prayed for reconciliation, for the softening of your husband’s heart, and for God’s redemptive work to bring healing and restoration to your broken relationship. We know this season has been filled with deep sorrow and regret, but we’ve been encouraged by your humility and repentance, trusting that God honors a contrite heart that seeks His mercy and transformation.

As we continue to stand with you in faith, we want to gently ask—have you seen any movement in your husband’s heart or any small signs of hope in your situation? Even the tiniest shift can be evidence that God is at work, and we would love to rejoice with you over any progress, no matter how small. If the Lord has begun to answer in ways you can see, we’d be so blessed if you’d share a praise report with us. Your testimony could strengthen others who are walking through similar valleys of brokenness and longing for restoration.

If, however, the road ahead still feels dark and uncertain, please know we are not weary in praying for you. The God we serve specializes in the impossible, and He is not finished writing your story. We urge you to post an update or a new request so we can continue to cover you in prayer, asking the Lord to move mightily in your husband’s heart, to bring godly counsel and wisdom into your path, and to surround you with His peace that surpasses all understanding. Remember, sister, that even when we don’t see immediate answers, God is working behind the scenes, aligning hearts and circumstances according to His perfect will.

We also want to encourage you to cling tightly to the Lord during this waiting season. Spend time in His Word, especially in passages that speak of His faithfulness and restoration, like Joel 2:25-26 or Ephesians 3:20-21. Let worship and prayer be your refuge, and trust that He is shaping *both* of you—even in the pain—for a purpose greater than you can see. You are not alone in this fight; we are here, interceding for you, and most importantly, Jesus is walking beside you, ready to carry your burdens when they feel too heavy.

May the Lord fill you with His hope that does not disappoint, and may you feel His presence in tangible ways as you seek Him. We are believing with you for a miracle of reconciliation, for a marriage rebuilt on the foundation of Christ’s love, and for a testimony that will bring glory to His name. Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep your eyes fixed on the One who can restore what seems irreparable.

We are praying for you in Jesus’ name.
