Prepare to Meet Thy God
God calls every soul to face Him, so turn to Christ now to be ready for that meeting.
We join you with grateful hearts before our Heavenly Father and we thank Him that you have come before His throne in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is by His name that we are saved. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. We rejoice that you have prayed in Jesus name and we stand with you in that same name.

We lift up this first meeting planned for November 3 to 11 and we commit every detail into the Lord's hands. Proverbs 16:9 says a man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. We pray that your plans and his plans will be fully surrendered to the perfect will of God, not merely to our own desires, and that you will both have the grace to say as in James 4:15 If the Lord wills, we will live, and do this or that. We pray for genuine discernment and wisdom, for James 1:5 promises if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We bring before the Lord the heart and mind of this man and your own heart as well. We pray that the Lord will cultivate in you both a love that is patient and kind and rooted in Christ, not only an emotional spark but the enduring love described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. We pray that your time together will be filled with grace, mutual understanding and joy, and that you will create cherished memories that honor God. As you look toward courtship and the hope of a fiancee visa and marriage, we strongly affirm the sanctity of marriage as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman before God. We encourage you to view this time of getting to know one another as intentional courtship with the goal of discerning marriage to a fellow believer in Christ. 2 Corinthians 6:14 calls us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, so we pray that you both know the Lord Jesus personally and are seeking Him first. We also lovingly and firmly remind you that God calls us to purity before marriage. Hebrews 13:4 says let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, and 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to flee sexual immorality. As you spend these days together, we urge you to honor God with your bodies, to keep clear boundaries, to avoid being alone in private settings or sharing lodging, and to remain under the accountability and presence of family and trusted friends, so that your witness remains pure and above reproach. 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 teaches that this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality, that each one of you know how to possess himself in sanctification and honor.

We lift up all the travel from November 3 through November 11, his journey starting November 3 and arriving November 5, and your flight on November 4. We pray for Psalm 121:7-8 over you, that Yahweh will keep you from all evil and will keep your soul, that He will keep your going out and your coming in. We ask for safety in every flight and car ride, for no cancellations or delays that would hinder what God intends, and for good weather according to His mercy. We trust Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We pray for your work and provisions. We ask the Lord to grant favor for your work leave and to give you diligence and excellence to complete every pending task, that you may serve as Colossians 3:23 says, heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God will guard your hearts. We cast your financial concerns upon Him, for Philippians 4:19 promises my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

We pray for family and loved ones on both sides. We ask God to strengthen and give grace to his brother as he cares for their mother and the dogs while he is away, and we pray for his mother that she will be kept safe, comforted and at peace. We thank God for the dogs and ask for His care over them. We pray for your precious time with your family and friends, that those gatherings will be filled with warmth, laughter and love, and that they will be a godly covering and wise counsel to you both as they welcome you. Proverbs 11:14 tells us where there is no counsel, plans fail, but in a multitude of counselors they are established, so we encourage you to invite their honest input and discernment.

We surrender financial constraints and every worry to our Provider, trusting Romans 8:28 that we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

We now pray together. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and we place this first meeting into Your hands. Lord, direct every step, guard every journey by air and by land, and let Your perfect will be done above all our wishes. Create in both hearts a pure, Christ centered love, and if it is Your will, establish this courtship unto a godly marriage that honors You, but if not, give clear eyes and peaceful closure. Keep you both pure and holy, set apart for Your glory, and let family and friends be a hedge of accountability and blessing around you. Grant favor for work leave, complete what needs to be done, provide for every financial need, and remove anxiety. Watch over his mother and brother and the dogs, and bless the fellowship with family and friends with joy and grace. Let Your peace that surpasses all understanding guard your hearts. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We are joining you in prayer as these November dates draw so close. We hear both the gratitude in your heart and the weight of all the details, his travel starting the 3rd and arriving the 5th through the 11th, your flight on the 4th, the hope for safe flights and good weather with no cancellations, the need for work leave to be granted, and the longing for unhurried, joyful time with family and friends.

A first meeting in person after knowing each other at a distance is such a significant step. It is exciting and it is also where you really begin to learn how you communicate, handle stress, show grace, and care for the people around you. Giving space for that learning, with open eyes and unhurried conversation, matters so much.

One practical step we have seen help couples at this point is to invite a trusted pastor or counselor in early for premarital preparation. There are well tested inventories and conversations that walk you through faith, expectations, finances, family and communication before any visa or engagement decisions. It gives you shared tools and language for honest conversation now, rather than waiting until later.

We are also holding your practical concerns before the Lord with you, provision for costs, peace for his mom and the dogs while his brother looks after them, and rest for you as you finish work tasks.

Father, we lift this journey to You. Keep these travelers safe on every leg, grant favor and clarity around work, watch over family at home and give them comfort and peace, supply what is needed, and give them both wisdom, purity and a clear sense of Your will in the days ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your prayer and we join you in laying it before the Lord, with thanksgiving that you desire to place every detail of this journey into His hands and to seek that your plans align with His perfect will.

It is right that you surrender all to Him, for there is a way of childlike trust in providential guidance which is most blessed. Happy is that man who waits upon God to know what he shall do, who asks the Lord to guide him and dares not lean upon his own understanding. You ask for protection over travel by air and by land, and for favorable weather between November 3 and 11, and we do pray the Lord will keep you in safety. Yet remember the word, He shall give His angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways. He who travels on the King's Highway is under the King's protection, but he who takes to byroads must protect himself. There are ways in which safety is guaranteed, namely the appointed ways of obedience, truth and holiness. As you travel, walk in those ways, grapple the truths of God to you as with hooks of steel, and look to Him for keeping which is both personal and perpetual.

You pray that the Lord would stir genuine love and an enduring spark, and that this first meeting may lead, in His will, toward a petition for a fiancee visa and toward marriage. Hear what the Scripture teaches of marriage. It is not a relationship of birth but of choice, and it is scarcely a true marriage at all where there has not been a choice on each side. It is cemented by mutual love, for how shall we call that a marriage where husband and wife remain two persons maintaining individuality as if it were a condition of the contract. In a true marriage the two become one. And this earthly union is given to reflect a greater mystery, the marriage of the Lamb. There is no marriage of the Church without the appearance of Christ, and there will be no marriage between your soul and Christ if you will not have Him as the Lamb who proved His love by His wounds and blood. As you think of earthly marriage, consider first that you are betrothed to Christ by inseparable bonds if you have trusted Him, and that the consummation of all redemption is the marriage supper of the Lamb, the fulfillment of long expectation when all His redeemed shall be gathered home. Therefore seek first that each of you knows salvation through Jesus Christ alone, for He is the only way to the Father, and let any love between you be shaped by His love.

For this reason we cannot ask God to bless living together or any physical union outside the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman in marriage. Sex and the sharing of a home belong within that covenant alone. If the Lord in His wisdom does lead you toward marriage, pray that your time together from November 5 to 11, and your time with family and friends, may be marked by grace, purity, mutual understanding and abundant joy, with all propriety and holiness, so that you create cherished memories without spot or regret, and that your choice for one another may be made soberly, honestly and before God.

We also lift before Him your requests for work. We pray that your leave may be granted if it be His will, that pending tasks may be completed with excellence, and that you may serve faithfully in the place He has set you. We pray for the brother who remains to care for mother and for the dogs left behind, that the Lord will grant him strength and grace, and keep your mother safe, comforted and at peace, and keep those creatures in His care. We pray for your family and friends who will welcome you, that your fellowship may be filled with warmth and love that honors Christ. And we bring your financial constraints to Him who is our Provider, asking that He will supply every need according to His riches and remove the heavy burden of worry, that your hearts may be free to seek first His kingdom.

Let this then be our prayer together. O Lord, who hast shown us love as the Lamb slain, wash us in Thy blood and betroth us to Thyself in righteousness. If it be Thy will, guide these two servants in Thy appointed ways, keep them in travel and in return, guard their hearts in holiness, grant them wisdom to discern Thy will concerning marriage, and let whatever love grows between them be chaste, truthful and enduring, to the end that a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, if Thou ordain it, may reflect the union of Christ and His Church. Provide for work and daily bread, comfort those at home, and let all things be done to Thy glory. We ask not for our will but Thine to be done, trusting that Thy love goes before us and dwells within us. In the name of Jesus Christ our only hope, Amen.
