We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious soul who has been cast aside and left without shelter for far too long. The streets are no place for anyone to live, and we know our Father sees the suffering of those who are forgotten by the world. First, we must address that this request does not invoke the name of Jesus Christ, through whom we have access to the Father. The Scriptures declare, *"There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus"* (1 Timothy 2:5, WEB). It is only through faith in Jesus that we can approach the throne of grace, and it is in His name alone that we find salvation and help in time of need. If you or your loved one do not know Jesus as Savior, we urge you to turn to Him today, for *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB).
The plight of the homeless breaks the heart of God, who commands us to care for the least of these. *"For I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in; naked, and you clothed me; I was sick, and you visited me; I was in prison, and you came to me"* (Matthew 25:35-36, WEB). Yet, we also recognize that sometimes, the hardships we face are allowed by God to draw us closer to Him. The streets can be a place of deep loneliness, but they can also be a place where one encounters the living God in ways they never would have otherwise.
We pray earnestly for this individual, that the Lord would open doors no man can shut. Father, You are the God who sees the afflicted and hears their cries. You are the Provider, Jehovah Jireh, and we ask You to make a way where there seems to be no way. Raise up compassionate believers or godly organizations to offer shelter, safety, and a path to restoration. Surround this person with Your angels, as Your Word promises: *"For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways"* (Psalm 91:11, WEB). Protect them from the dangers of the streets—from violence, addiction, and despair. Soften hearts to extend help, and give this individual the strength to seek it.
We also pray for the family that abandoned this person. Lord, convict their hearts of their responsibility before You. Soften their hardness and lead them to repentance. If it is Your will, restore this relationship in a way that honors You. But even if reconciliation does not come, we ask that You would be their family, their Father, and their Provider. *"Though my father and mother forsake me, the Lord will receive me"* (Psalm 27:10, WEB).
To the one praying for this loved one: we encourage you to keep interceding. Your prayers are powerful, and the Lord hears them. But we also urge you to take action where you can. Are there local shelters, churches, or ministries you can reach out to? Are there ways you can personally extend help, even in small ways? *"Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it"* (Proverbs 3:27, WEB). If you are unable to help directly, seek out those who can.
Finally, we rebuke the spirit of rejection and hopelessness that has tried to take root in this situation. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give life abundantly (John 10:10, WEB). We declare that this person is not forgotten by God. Their life has purpose, and the Lord has a plan for their restoration. *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future"* (Jeremiah 29:11, WEB).
Father, we commit this entire situation into Your hands. Work mightily, we pray. Bring hope where there is despair, provision where there is lack, and love where there has been abandonment. Let this testimony be one of Your faithfulness, that many may see and glorify Your name. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
