Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart so honestly and for allowing us to pray with you. We have lifted you before the Lord in the name of Jesus, asking that if it is His will He would heal you and keep any cancer from your body, especially under your eye and on your leg. God hears the sincere cry of His children and you do not need to worry about saying the prayer with perfect words. He understands the truth in your heart.
We understand why you are worried, especially having walked through skin cancer before. It is natural for fear to rise when you face the same concern again. Yet worry itself does not help or change anything. Jesus taught that anxious thoughts add nothing to our lives, not even a small measure to our height, and that worry about tomorrow only robs us of peace today. Faith and worry cannot live together in the same place. When one comes in, the other must leave. The cure for worry is trust, to trust in the Lord and to keep delighting in Him, knowing your Father knows what you need and cares for you even more than He cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field.
We do believe that God heals, and a large part of the Gospels shows Jesus touching and healing those who were sick because of His tender compassion. At the same time there is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some are healed instantly and others gradually or through other means. Any true healing is from God. He has built healing processes into our bodies, and that natural process is still divine because He created it. Sometimes He heals with a touch, sometimes with a word, sometimes gradually, and sometimes through the wisdom He gives to doctors. He is the Lord who heals us and He becomes to us what we need, whether salvation, comfort, or healing. We do not always know His pattern or His timing, but we know His goodness is great and He has stored up goodness for those who look to Him with reverence.
That reverence is what the Bible means by the fear of the Lord. It is not being afraid that God wants to hurt you, but standing in awe of who He is, His greatness and His love, and having a heart that says I love Him and I do not want to do anything that would grieve Him. When we remember who He is and keep our eyes on Jesus rather than on the problem in front of us, fear loses its grip. Peter began to sink only when he looked away from Jesus to the waves around him. In the same way, when we forget the Lord, fear grows, and when we remember Him, faith grows. Fear and faith cannot coexist, but faith will drive out fear.
So we are praying that God will touch you and bring healing according to His perfect will, and that He will also heal your heart from fear and give you deep peace. We pray that you will be able to trust Him with tomorrow, knowing that tomorrow will be cared for by Him as well. Continue to seek wise medical care and let every step of care be committed to Him, trusting that whatever good comes is from His hand.
Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this dear one to You. You know the concern about the skin under the eye and on the leg, and You know the history of cancer and the worry that has come with it. If it is Your will, we ask You to heal and to keep this body free from cancer. Touch what is concerning and bring wholeness. Fill the heart with Your peace that passes understanding, drive out worry and fear, and help there to be simple trust in Your love and care. Let there be a fresh awareness of Your presence and Your goodness. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our healer and our hope. Amen.
