Prayer for my ###

Disciple of Prayer
Hi Please can you pray for my ### year old son, he is distancing himself from the lord... Please pray that he can come back to the lord and have that first love that he had for Jesus... please pray that his stubborness will go away and he will listen to us as parents..

We join you in lifting up your son before the throne of grace, and we share your heart's ache as parents longing to see your child walk closely with the Lord again.

We know how painful it is to watch a child drift and become stubborn of heart, but we take comfort that God is faithful and His love pursues even when hearts grow cold. Scripture reminds us, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6. What you planted in him in his first love for Jesus has not been forgotten by the Lord, even if he is distancing himself for a season.

We think also of the words to the church in Revelation 2:4-5, But I have this against you, that you left your first love. Remember therefore from where you fell, and repent and do the first works. Our prayer is that the Holy Spirit will convict your son gently and powerfully, bringing him to remember that first love he had for Jesus and drawing him to repentance and restoration. The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that anyone should perish, but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9.

We also pray for his heart toward you as his parents. The Word says, Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise Ephesians 6:1-2. We pray that any spirit of stubbornness and rebellion will be softened, and that God will give him ears to hear and a humble heart to listen to your godly counsel. At the same time we encourage you as parents to continue to love him with patience and not provoke him to anger, as we are taught in Ephesians 6:4, but nurture him in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. Your steady example, your prayers, and your unconditional love are a powerful testimony, even when he resists.

We remember the prodigal son who left his father's house, yet the father never stopped watching and waiting, and when he returned, the father ran to him Luke 15:20-24. Our God is that faithful Father who waits and rejoices over one who returns.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, lifting up this precious son to You. Lord, You know his heart, You know his struggles, and You love him more than his parents ever could. We ask that You draw him back to Yourself with cords of lovingkindness. Rekindle in him that first love for Jesus, restore his passion for Your Word, for prayer, and for fellowship with You. Remove any hardness and stubbornness from his heart and give him a heart of flesh that is tender toward You and toward his parents. Grant him humility to listen, to honor his father and mother, and to walk in obedience to Your ways. Protect him from the deceptions of the enemy and from the distractions of this world, and surround him with godly influences who will speak truth in love. Strengthen his parents with peace, wisdom, and perseverance as they continue to intercede for him, and help them to trust in Your perfect timing. We thank You that You are able to keep that which is committed to You, and we trust You to complete the good work You began in him. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue steadfast in prayer, for The effective, earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results James 5:16. Keep the lines of communication open with your son with grace and truth, speak to him not only with correction but with love, and let him see Christ in your daily walk. Trust that God is working even when you cannot see it, and rest in His promise that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us 1 John 5:14. We stand with you, believing God will bring your son back to his first love for Jesus and to a place of honor and love within your family.

We are so glad you reached out about your son. Watching a child pull away from the Lord is one of the hardest things for a parent to carry, and we hear both your love for him and your longing for him to know Jesus closely again.

It is painful when guidance seems to bounce off, especially in these years when young people are trying to find their own footing. Often the more we press, the more they pull back, even when our motives are love. That does not mean your influence is gone. Your steady presence, your consistent care, and your quiet faithfulness still matter a great deal, even when he does not show it.

One thing that often helps is keeping one regular, low pressure connection point that is not about correction. A meal, a drive, a shared interest where you can listen more than advise and let him talk about what he is thinking without it turning into a debate. It keeps the door open so he feels safe to come to you when he is ready, and it gives you space to keep loving him well while you continue to pray.

We are praying with you for him and for you as his parents as you walk this out.

Father, we lift this son to You and ask You to draw him close again and soften his heart toward You and toward his parents. Give his mom and dad wisdom, patience and peace as they love him, and keep their home filled with grace and truth. In Jesus name, amen.

Your burden for your son has been laid before the Lord and we join our hearts with yours in prayer for him.

Be encouraged that the eyes of mercy are quicker than the eyes of repentance. As it was with the prodigal, the father saw him when he was yet a great way off. He sees your son long before your son sees Him, and His love has not grown cold though your son has grown distant. If we had read that the father had kicked his prodigal son we should have been astonished, for the father in the parable was to represent God. Our God does not cast away the returning sinner, but kisses him much and puts his sonship beyond all doubt.

The Lord says, I will heal their backsliding. Backsliding is treated in Scripture as a disease, and this is a promise that the Great Physician Himself will heal it. This is true for His own peculiar people, His elect ones. He does not leave them to heal themselves, but declares what He Himself will do. If your son has known the love of Christ, he is still a son though he confesses he is not worthy to be called so, and that sonship is the very ground of his hope of return.

We pray that the Lord will work in him not a carnal repentance that is of the flesh and after the manner of our sinful nature, but that repentance unto life which is wrought in the renewed heart by the Holy Spirit. True repentance gives God glory, it makes a rainbow with tears of grief for sin and glances of hope at the love of Christ and His great finished work. It leads a soul to look out of self to Christ and to Christ only, believing on the name of His Son Jesus Christ, for all the promises in this Book belong to every repentant sinner who returns to God believing in Jesus Christ His Son. There is no other way of salvation, for salvation is through Jesus Christ alone.

We also pray that stubbornness will be subdued and that he may be brought to a spirit of humble obedience. Obedience is the highest practical courage, and its very essence lies in exactness, not turning to the right hand or to the left. May the Lord give him a heart to desire to be obedient to Christ in all things, and in that, to honour his father and mother according to the commandment. And may you as parents be kept from the spirit of the elder brother, which would drive a prodigal further away, and instead show the patient, waiting, welcoming love of the father, trusting the Lord to do His work in His time.

Let us pray together.

O gracious Father, Thou who hast spared not Thine own Son but delivered Him up for us all, look in mercy upon this son who is distancing himself from Thee. Thou hast promised to heal backsliding, heal his we pray Thee. Grant him true repentance unto life, a godly sorrow for sin that gives Thee glory, and a living faith that lays hold on Christ alone for pardon and peace. Restore unto him the joy of Thy salvation and the first love he had for Jesus. Soften what is hard and stubborn in him by Thy Holy Spirit, and make him willing to hear Thy voice and to walk in Thy ways, and to listen with honour to the parents Thou hast given him. Keep his parents strong and very courageous in prayer and in steady love, waiting as Thou dost wait, until Thou shalt bring him home. We ask this in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord, in whom alone is life. Amen.

Father, humbly ask for Your power to intervene. Please meet deepest spiritual, physical, emotional, financial needs according to Your Will and timing in Jesus Name Amen
"May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace." Numbers 6:24-26
