Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart about your son. We are praying for him with you, and we want you to know how deeply God loves him. Scripture tells us that God created all things for His pleasure, and that includes your son. At the baptism of Jesus the Father said, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, and Jesus said He always did those things that pleased the Father. Your son is created and loved by that same Father, and He cares about his pain.
We also want to encourage you as you wait on the Lord for healing. There is much about healing we do not fully understand, including why some people are healed quickly and others more slowly. The Bible shows us that Jesus healed in different ways. At one time He healed a blind man gradually, and that is the only gradual healing recorded in His ministry. At another time He spoke a word in Cana and a nobleman's son was healed many miles away. He healed a leper, He healed the servant of a centurion, He healed Peter's mother in law, and in the evenings multitudes were brought to Him who were sick and oppressed. We believe strongly that Jesus still heals, both spiritually and physically, and that He can be trusted for both.
At the same time, not every sickness has a direct spiritual cause, and suffering does not mean God is displeased with someone. Good people become ill and experience pain, and that pain is not necessarily sent by God. We also believe that every true healing is from God, even when it comes through the natural processes He has built into our bodies. The way our bodies mend, and the help doctors can give as they understand those processes, is still divine healing, because God is the one who created nature and its laws. Sometimes healing is immediate, sometimes it is gradual, and sometimes it comes through care and time, but in each case God is the source.
As a parent, your concern for your son reflects something of the Father's own heart. Scripture gives us a picture of the Father's love for His Son, and of Abraham's love for Isaac, to help us understand how precious a son is to a father. God understands the ache you feel watching your son struggle with frequent stomach pain and now this new pain near his chest after learning to ride his bicycle. He is compassionate toward you both.
We will continue to pray that Jesus will touch your son and bring relief and strength to his body, and give you wisdom and peace as you care for him. Because this new chest pain has come on recently, we also encourage you to have him seen by a doctor promptly to make sure there is no strain or other cause that needs attention, while we trust the Lord to work through every means He provides.
Let us pray together. Father, we bring this young boy before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You know him, You formed him, and You love him. We ask for Your healing hand upon him. Ease his stomach pain that has troubled him so often, and ease the pain he now feels near his chest. Restore him to health and comfort him with Your presence. Give his parents wisdom, peace, and assurance of Your care, and help them to trust You for his physical healing as well as his spiritual life. We ask this in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
