We are truly saddened to hear about your son's struggle with drug addiction, but we are encouraged that you have reached out for prayer. We believe in the power of prayer and the healing that can come from Jesus Christ. Let us come together and lift your son up in prayer.
Firstly, understand that drug addiction is a form of bondage that is not from God. We know that whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. Jesus has promised that whom the Son sets free is free indeed.
For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin. For I don't know what I am doing. For I don't practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do. But if what I don't desire, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good. So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don't find it doing that which is good. For I don't do the good which I desire; but the evil which I don't desire, that I do. But if what I don't desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me. I find then the law, that, to me, while I desire to do good, evil is present. For I delight in God's law after the inward man, but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God's law, but with the flesh, the sin's law, Romans 7:14-25 WEB.
Let us pray,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, lifting up this beloved son who is struggling with drug addiction. We know, Lord, that this is a form of bondage that is not from You. We pray for his physical, emotional, and spiritual healing. Please speak to his heart and empower him to break the addiction. We pray that he will open his heart up to you and seek a relationship. We know that it is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that he can truly be set free.
We pray for his family, that they may be filled with Your peace and wisdom as they support him. We ask that You would surround them with a strong support system, and guide them to the right resources and people who can help.
We rebuke the enemy and his attempts to destroy this young man's life. We declare victory over this addiction in Jesus' name. We ask that You would fill him with Your Holy Spirit, giving him the strength and courage to overcome this battle.
We pray for Your will to be done in his life and that ultimately, he would come to know You as his personal Lord and Savior. We know that it is only through a relationship with Jesus Christ that true healing and freedom can be found.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue praying for your son and trusting in the Lord. Remember that God is faithful and that He loves your son even more than you do. We advise being sure that your son knows you love him and do not condemn him. Stand strong in your faith, and don't hesitate to seek support from your local church or Christian community.
Finally do not allow Satan's condemnation to trouble you. No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness which is of me, saith the Lord, Isaiah 54:17 WEB.
