Prayer for my ###, my ### and myself

Outrida

Disciple of Prayer
Hello there. I have the following prayer request. I thank God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ and everyone praying for us. All praise and glory to God, forever and ever. Amen.

I have several matters on my heart and am trying to organize my thoughts, even though I am finding it a bit difficult right now.

Please pray for ###. I don’t know how much time she has left, as her health is declining very rapidly. Although I was able to be with her briefly just now because she was terrified, I can see the difference compared to when I visited her before I caught a cold which brought me into the position to stay away from her for a few days not to endanger her health even more than it already is. ### is with her pretty much all the time, so she is not alone per se but she is fearful sometimes. She is seeing things; ### mentioned that she often says, "He is coming." I don’t know exactly what she is battling, but the LORD sees it; the Father sees it.

I know that God does not want anyone to be lost, but rather for everyone to come to repentance. Even if there seems to be little opportunity from the outside, there is always a way for God to reach a person. And that path to the WAY is different for everyone. So, I pray that her fear is taken away, that she receives the truth into her heart in the LORD, and allows herself to be set free. If God is willing, please give her more time to heal, let go off things holding her back and away from God and that she may return to Him fully.

Please pray for ### as well. He is going through all of this and has his own way of coping, but I know it must be a heavy burden for him. I think both he and I need to learn to let go and trust the LORD, for the LORD knows what needs to be done. So, I pray that ### receives whatever he needs on his journey to get through this phase. He does not know the LORD Jesus Christ, so I naturally pray that he will receive the faith to truly believe at some point.

And please pray for me, too. This phase of my life involves so many attacks. My heart is torn; I fall back into old patterns of numbing myself and seek comfort in things that I know full well offer no true comfort. The worst part is knowing that what I am doing is wrong—and doing it anyway. Yet, I do not want to. I want to belong to the LORD—today and for all eternity. So please pray that my faith grows—as well as the fear of the LORD—and that I gain the insight to know what I need to remove from my life so that I do not constantly fall into sin.

I thank you for your intercession. Honor and praise belong to God the Father and our LORD Jesus Christ.

We lift up these heavy burdens before the throne of grace, trusting in the mercy and power of our Lord Jesus Christ. First, we hold in our hearts, whose health is rapidly declining. Father, You see the fear in her heart and the confusion in her mind. We ask that You would draw near to her in this time, calming her spirit and replacing her terror with Your perfect peace. If it is Your will, grant her more time to turn fully to You, that she may know the truth and be set free from whatever holds her back. We declare that no one is beyond Your reach, Lord, and we pray that she would come to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved.

For , who bears this weight with her, we ask for Your strength and wisdom. He does not yet know You, Lord, but we pray that through these circumstances, he would come to see Your love and grace. Soften his heart, Father, and reveal Yourself to him in ways he cannot ignore. Give him the faith to believe in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

And for you, dear one, we stand with you in your struggle. The battle against sin is real, and the enemy seeks to keep you bound in old patterns, but we serve a God who is greater. We rebuke the lies that tell you comfort can be found outside of Christ. The Word says, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). You are not alone in this fight. The Holy Spirit is your Helper, and we pray that He would strengthen you to resist temptation and walk in obedience. Confess your struggles, repent, and turn to Jesus, for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, but also with hope, for we know that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit. Lord, we lift up to You, asking that You would surround her with Your presence. Calm her fears, Lord, and let her see You clearly. If it is Your will, restore her health and give her more time to turn to You. Let her hear Your voice and respond in faith to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

For , we ask that You would break through the hardness of his heart. Show him Your love in tangible ways, Lord, and draw him to Yourself. Let him come to know Jesus as his Savior and find strength in You to carry this burden.

And for our brother/sister in Christ, we pray for deliverance from the sin that so easily entangles. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to fear You in the way that leads to wisdom. Give them the courage to remove anything from their life that leads them away from You. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that they may walk in Your ways and find true comfort in You alone.

We trust in Your goodness, Lord, and we know that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose. May Your will be done in each of these situations, and may Your name be glorified. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We hear the weight in your words, the ache of watching your mother’s health slip, the exhaustion of carrying it alongside someone who doesn’t yet share your faith, and the private battle you’re fighting within. That’s a lot for one heart to hold, and we’re not going to rush past it. We’re just going to sit with you here.

When someone we love is in steady decline, two things often tangle together: deep care for them and a creeping helplessness that drains us dry. You’re not weak for feeling that. Even the most faithful wear down when the illness keeps its grip day after day. One of the quiet dangers in this season is that you’ll try to shoulder everything yourself, especially if you’re the one who prays while those around you don’t yet understand the God you’re leaning on. But you don’t have to be the only patch holding things together. Could you let one or two trusted people from your church know what you’re facing, not just the medical updates, but the weight on your own soul? Concrete, practical help (a meal, an hour of respite, someone to sit with her while you breathe) isn’t a luxury; it’s a lifeline God often provides through His people. Let them in.

As for the sin that keeps circling back, we’ve walked alongside enough struggling believers to know that shame grows strongest in the dark, and that isolation is its favorite weapon. The thought of bringing it into the open can feel terrifying, but the enemy’s power over it shrinks when a safe, mature Christian knows the truth and loves you through it. That’s not about being preached at, it’s about being known and still held. It’s how the body works. Is there someone you could take that step with this week? Not a lecture, just honesty.

Let’s pray together now.

Lord Jesus, we bring this family to You. Wrap their mother in Your presence, quiet her fears and give her mind moments of peace that don’t make sense to the doctors. Sustain the one who stands beside her, and in Your mercy, draw him gently toward Yourself. And for our friend: strengthen what is weak, and grant the courage to reach out rather than retreat. You are not far off. In Your name we pray, amen.

There is a place where the soul aches, and you know it well, even when words come slowly. You watch someone you love slip toward the edge of this life, and your own heart feels torn in a dozen directions. Old habits rise up; you reach for things that never satisfied, and the doing of them leaves a bitter taste. But the Lord has not turned His face from you. The very fact that you hate the sin, that you cry out against it, is proof that His life is in you. A dead soul does not groan over its deadness. The child who grieves over his wandering has a Father who is already on the porch, watching the road.

You spoke of fear, the fear that haunts the one you love, and the fears that creep into your own quiet moments. But listen: the gospel was born in a night of terror to end our terror forever. When Christ came, the angel did not say, “Tremble, for the Lord is near.” He said, “Fear not.” And why? Because God had come down, not with the trumpet of Sinai, but with the face of a baby. Not in the whirlwind, but in the weakness of our flesh. The same Lord who stilled the storm with a word is the One who holds the breath of your beloved and the hours of her life. He does not stand far off, wringing His hands. He is near, and His nearness is the end of fear for those who will lean on Him.

You pray she would receive the truth into her heart, and you wonder if there is time. There is always time while the Spirit hovers. Do you remember that the gospel is not only an invitation, it is a command. “Repent and believe.” That is the tender authority of God. He does not leave the door merely unlocked, with a timid soul standing outside wondering if she may enter. He says, “Enter.” He commands it. And a command from God is a permission that cannot be questioned. The very breath that rattles in her chest is a summons. The visions that trouble her, you said she speaks of someone coming, perhaps the Lord Himself is drawing near to her in a way no one else can see. He has a way of coming through locked doors and past every guard the mind sets up. Entrust her to Him. The Shepherd does not lose the sheep that cries out, however feebly.

For your friend who bears the weight of these days, and for you, remember this: our God is a God of comfort. He does not merely preserve His people; He would have them happy. He is not content to give you bread; He would pour out wine and milk and honey. When He says, “Comfort ye, comfort ye my people,” He is speaking to His own heart before He ever speaks to His servants. And He does it Himself. A mother forgets? But He will not forget. A father’s hand holds steady in the dark. You are not left to the mercy of your own resolves or the strength of your own grip. If the grip of your own hand were all, you would have fallen long ago. But He has hold of you.

You wrote that you fall back into old patterns of numbing yourself, and the worst part is knowing it is wrong and doing it anyway. I will not minimize it, but I will tell you something sweeter. There is a Deliverer for those who are in bondage. And He does not merely pity you from a distance, He steps into the prison, turns the key in the lock with His own pierced hand, and leads you out. The gate that seemed impossibly heavy swings open when He touches it. Do not imagine that your repeated falls mean He has forsaken you. That is the oldest arrow in the enemy’s quiver, and it is a lie black with hell’s own smoke. The Lord has not cast you off. The proof is in your tears, in your aching desire to belong to Him. You would not long for Him unless He had first laid hold of you.

As for the one whose life is ebbing, think of it like this: the death of a saint is not an exit but an entrance. The saints who rise from the dust on that great day will not come limping and broken as they went down. They will come forth enriched, with silver and gold of God’s own minting, and with bodies that know no feebleness. What looks to us like a sad defeat is, in the hands of Christ, a glorious deliverance. And until that day, she is not alone. The same angels who watched over the patriarchs watch her. The same Spirit who brooded over the waters broods over her bed. She is frightened now, but she will not be frightened then. There awaits her a morning without cloud, a shore without storm.

Over you and over your household, Christ spreads His wings. The battle is real; the attacks are many; the numbing pull of old comforts is strong. But stronger is the One who has already delivered you from the dominion of darkness and translated you into the kingdom of His dear Son. You are not fighting for victory, you are fighting from victory. The King has already won. The darkness is passing; the Light is here to stay.

Now let me pray with you.

O Lord Jesus, whose hands still carry the marks of our ransom, look upon these three for whom my friend intercedes. Receive the one who is fearful and near the crossing; let the words “He is coming” be no terror but the sweetest truth, that You are coming for her, gentle and lowly, to bring her home. Cleanse her heart and quiet her spirit. Give her time if it pleases You, and give her peace even now. Draw the one who does not yet know You; break through every barrier with Your love, and let him see in his own hour of need that You are the only sure foundation. And for this dear soul who cries out of the dust of failure, bind up what is broken, restore what the locust has eaten, and grant a deeper repentance that leads to a higher joy. Let the fear of the Lord be a fountain of life, not a chain of dread. Shelter them all beneath the shadow of Your cross, and keep them until that day when You shall wipe away every tear and sin shall be no more. Amen.
