Disciple of Prayer
my mother had a stroke last year, it affected her mentally and physically... she easily forgets things. she has a sharp pain in her right shoulder. i want her to heal fast:(( i want her to live a hundred years... please pray for her.

We lift up your dear mother to the Lord with heavy and hopeful hearts, knowing that our God is the Great Physician, the One who heals the broken and restores what has been lost. The pain and challenges she faces are not hidden from Him, and neither are your tears and longing for her full recovery. We stand in agreement with you, believing that God’s mercy and power can bring healing to her mind, body, and spirit.

The Bible tells us in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds," says Yahweh. We claim this promise over your mother’s life, trusting that God sees her suffering and is able to bring restoration. The sharp pain in her shoulder and the forgetfulness she experiences are not too difficult for the Lord. We pray that He would touch her with His healing hand, ease her pain, and renew her mind according to His perfect will.

We also recognize that healing is not always immediate or in the way we expect, but we know that God works all things together for good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28). Even in the waiting, we ask that He would give your mother strength, peace, and comfort. May she feel His presence close to her, especially in moments of frustration or pain. We pray that she would experience the love of Christ in tangible ways, perhaps through the care of those around her or through moments of clarity and joy that remind her of God’s faithfulness.

Father, we ask that You would also strengthen this dear child of Yours who is caring for her mother. Caregiving can be exhausting, both physically and emotionally, and we pray that You would sustain them with Your grace. Give them patience, wisdom, and moments of rest. Remind them that You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Help them to cast their anxieties on You, knowing that You care for them deeply (1 Peter 5:7).

We also want to gently encourage you to bring your mother before the Lord in prayer daily, not just in times of crisis, but as a continual act of faith. James 5:16 tells us, "Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective." Your prayers, combined with the prayers of the body of Christ, are powerful and effective. We believe that God hears and answers the cries of His children.

Lord, we ask that You would extend your mother’s life, not just in years, but in quality. May she live each day with purpose, surrounded by love, and may her life continue to be a testimony to Your goodness. We pray that she would come to know You more deeply, if she does not already, and that she would experience the peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). If she has not yet placed her faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, we pray that You would draw her to Yourself. There is no other name by which we can be saved, and we long for her to know the hope and eternal life that comes only through Jesus (Acts 4:12).

We rebuke the spirit of infirmity and any attack of the enemy that seeks to steal, kill, or destroy in her life. We declare that by the stripes of Jesus, she is healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we stand on Your Word, which says that You will satisfy her with long life (Psalm 91:16). We trust You, Lord, to work miracles in her life, whether through healing, strength, or peace in the midst of the storm.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We hear the fear and exhaustion behind your words, and your love for your mother is so clear. Watching someone who raised you become fragile is one of the hardest things. When recovery feels slow, the waiting can be its own kind of suffering, and we're really sorry you're carrying this.

A couple of thoughts that might steady you: First, stroke recovery is almost never a straight line forward, it often comes in small, almost invisible increments, sometimes with plateaus in between. That doesn't mean God has stopped working or that hope should be set aside. It just means the healing may unfold over more time than any of us would choose. Second, while you're caring so tenderly for her, don't lose sight of your own heart in this. The caregiving role can quietly drain you, and the anxiety of wanting her to live long and be well can overshadow the simple gift of still having her here today. Maybe just sit with her sometime this week with no agenda at all, not to help her remember something or to manage pain, but simply to be present together.

For the shoulder pain, it would be wise to have a doctor evaluate it. Pain after a stroke can come from several treatable sources, and a professional may be able to offer real relief we simply can't through prayer alone.

Let's pray for her together now. Father, we lift this beloved mother to you, the one who forgets things, who carries pain in her shoulder, who is still fighting to regain what was lost. Would you ease her body's discomfort and bring clarity to her mind where there is fog. Sustain her with quiet strength, and give her family, especially this son or daughter who loves her so deeply, the endurance to walk this road patiently. Surround them with people who understand, and when discouragement comes, meet them with reminders of your nearness. In Jesus' name, we ask this.

What is it that you desire most for your mother, a hundred years in this land of shadows, or an eternity in the land where the Tree of Life yields its fruit every month? You cry out for her body, and well you may, for she is laid low and the sharp pain torments her. Yet I beseech you, look beyond the shoulder and the fading mind to her immortal soul. The power of Christ is indeed a power to heal, but the chief healing He bestows is not merely of sinew and bone. Did not our Lord first say to the palsied man, "Son, thy sins be forgiven thee," before He commanded him to rise and walk? The pardon of iniquity is the greater miracle, the deeper cure. Seek this first for your dear mother. Pray that she may know the Beloved Physician, not only for her bodily frame, but for the wounds of her spirit, that her broken heart, if she has one, may be bound up by Him who healeth the broken in heart.

Do not imagine that I brush aside your anguish. I have seen too many beds of affliction to speak coldly. The Lord who entered Peter's house found it a hospital before He made it a palace, and He is no stranger to the sick-chamber. He is sovereign, and His will is a mighty deep. Sometimes He bids the fever flee, and sometimes He gives more grace when the thorn remains. The sharp pain, the flitting memory, these are not beyond His appointment, nor are they tokens of His hatred. Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth. Yet I join my prayer with yours that this cup might pass, if it be His will. I ask that He would say to this disease, "Be still," and to her shoulder, "Be thou loosed from this pain." I will plead for her restoration, that she might again sit clothed and in her right mind, and that she might know in her bones the strange and sovereign power of Him who fashioneth all things after the counsel of His own will.

But your cry for a hundred years, lay that before the Lord with a trembling and submissive hand. What if He should grant it, and yet give her not a heart to perceive nor eyes to see His glory? What shall it profit any soul to gain a century of earthly breath and lose its own self? The years of this life are but a handful of dust compared to the long Hallelujahs of eternity. There is a better longevity: to live forever in the Paradise where there is no more pain, where the inhabitants no more say, "I am sick," for they are forgiven their iniquity. That is the healing for which I would have you pant and groan above all else. Pray that her soul may be healed first, for the healing of the body is but a reprieve; the healing of the soul is a resurrection. Take heed how you pray, then, and take heed how you hear the answer. The Lord help you to trust Him even now, to rest in the mighty "I will" of divine grace, and to look for that blessed day when He shall wipe away all tears and bring us to the city whose Builder and Maker is God.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The sharp pain and forgetfulness that afflict your beloved mother are indeed grievous, and your desire for her swift recovery and many years springs from a natural love. Yet consider: when loss comes, we hold the power to make it a gain or a deeper loss. If you give thanks to God, if you utter the words of Job, “The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord,” then even this stroke becomes spiritual treasure. Do not wail bitterly as those without hope, for the memory of the holy ones who suffered surrounds us like a thick cloud of witnesses, restoring the soul weighed down by heat and storm. Their glory was not extinguished by pain; Abel, though slain, yet speaks. So your mother’s trial, borne with patience, can speak to you and others of the enduring recompense.

Cast not away your confidence, which has great reward. You have not lost faith; hold fast to it. To wish her a hundred years is a mother’s natural longing, but fix your gaze higher: the life that knows no illness, no forgetting, no shoulder pain. Pray for her healing, yes, we shall pray earnestly, but do not make God’s answer contingent on your timeline. He is the physician who applies remedies for the soul’s health. Sometimes quick healing is not the greatest mercy; sometimes lingering weakness becomes the door to eternal strength. Let her pain be your teacher. When you care for her, do so not seeking human praise but as alms given in secret, storing treasure in heaven.

Therefore, let us together ask for her comfort and restoration, but even more for the grace to accept whatever the Master appoints. For if you hear these words and merely wonder at them, you go away empty; but if you let them work like medicine, you shall see fruit. Perhaps after many remedies the body remains ailing, yet one word can heal the soul entirely. Trust that the Lord who raised the dead and unstopped deaf ears can restore her mind and relieve her shoulder. Yet trust more that, should she not leap up immediately, He is forming in her, and in you, a weight of glory beyond all comparison. We pray with you: O Lord, look upon this mother, ease her pain, quicken her memory, and grant her years of peace. But above all, fill both daughter and mother with the unshakeable confidence that neither death nor life can separate us from Your love. Amen.

It is hard to watch someone you love suffer the lingering effects of a stroke. The physical pain in her shoulder, the memory loss, the longing for her to be whole again, these things weigh heavily on your heart. God sees that weight. He is not distant or unmoved.

The groaning of this broken body is something Scripture understands deeply. From the moment sin entered the world, pain became a reality, and we all feel the ache of a creation waiting for redemption. Your mother’s struggle reminds us that these bodies are not meant to last forever. But they are not forgotten. Jesus Himself took on a body that knew excruciating pain, scourging, nails, the slow torture of the cross. He bore wounds so that we could call out for healing. By His stripes, we are offered that hope, whether it comes through gradual recovery or the ultimate restoration yet to be.

Even in His own agony, Jesus modeled tender care for a mother. As He hung dying, He looked down and saw His mother Mary standing near the cross. He did not ignore her. He spoke to her and to the disciple John, saying, “Behold your son” and “Behold your mother,” and from that moment she was taken into a home and loved. Your love for your mother echoes that concern, and you can trust that the Lord sees her, just as He saw His own.

The desire for her to live a hundred years is a beautiful cry of a child who treasures their mother. Yet we entrust her days not to a number, but to the One who numbers them. God’s purpose for her life does not fall short, and His compassion is the same whether we are given many years or few. A godly mother’s influence runs deep, and it is clear she has raised someone who clings to faith and prays in desperation. That is no small thing.

So pray with confidence. Ask for relief from the sharp shoulder pain, for clarity in her mind, for strength to return. But also rest in the truth that she is not alone. Jesus, who suffered so deeply, stands with her in the suffering. And He is gently carrying her, and you, through this.

I am praying for your mother now, for comfort in her pain, for the fog to lift, and for you to have peace as you wait.
