Prayer for my Grandma

My grandma is currently in the hospital now for pneumonia. She was originally admitted for sepsis and pneumonia but she managed to fight it off. She suffered a cardiac episode and but managed to be resuscitated within seconds by the paramedics without suffering from any acute damage. She was on a respirator for a while, then a bipap machine and finally just normal oxygen. She got better after two weeks and was discharged to a short term nursing facility to get therapy to recover her strength.

She only stayed there for four days before having breathing problems and being sent back to the hospital. She is currently out of the ICU again after another five days there but now it doesn't look good. Unlike before her breathing is too shallow to get rid of excess CO2 which builds up and causes her to be weak which makes her have trouble swallowing her food without getting it down her airways. It doesn't look good now and I think we may have to look at getting a port installed in her stomach assuming she can survive it. We are also looking at different therapy options as a Hail Mary way of keeping her out of a hospice and with us for a few more years. She's 94.

We could use some prayers to keep her with us for a few more years.

Lord Jesus, You walked on the earth, understood the broken world, yet also rose from death into resurrected life. I pray for these loved ones, that they would be held at this time in your loving arms. Bless the work of the doctors, surgeons and hospital staff, and bring the power of your resurrection life into their body. Come fill these beloved ones from top to toe with your restorative Spirit. May your resurrection life bring healing and wellness into their being. May your grace carry them through this hard time into a new season filled with hope and joy. Amen.

A Prayer for Help[a]86 Listen to me, Lord, and answer me, for I am helpless and weak.2 Save me from death, because I am loyal to you; save me, for I am your servant and I trust in you.3 You are my God, so be merciful to me; I pray to you all day long.4 Make your servant glad, O Lord, because my prayers go up to you.5 You are good to us and forgiving, full of constant love for all who pray to you.6 Listen, Lord, to my prayer; hear my cries for help.7 I call to you in times of trouble, because you answer my prayers.8 There is no god like you, O Lord, not one has done what you have done.9 All the nations that you have created will come and bow down to you; they will praise your greatness.10 You are mighty and do wonderful things; you alone are God.11 Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and I will obey you faithfully; teach me to serve you with complete devotion.12 I will praise you with all my heart, O Lord my God; I will proclaim your greatness forever.13 How great is your constant love for me! You have saved me from the grave itself.14 Proud people are coming against me, O God; a cruel gang is trying to kill me people who pay no attention to you.15 But you, O Lord, are a merciful and loving God, always patient, always kind and faithful.16 Turn to me and have mercy on me; strengthen me and save me, because I serve you just as my mother did.17 Show me proof of your goodness, Lord; those who hate me will be ashamed when they see that you have given me comfort and help.

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.

One last update regarding my grandma:

She is back in the ICU for the third time past month and she is losing the battle. She has trouble getting enough oxygen even with being on a continuous BiPaP machine, she can't seem to getting better even with the strongest medicines and antibiotics. She is just too old and her chronic diseases are just too much for her to fight on top of a multidrug resistant infection causing her pneumonia. Her doctors want to wait for another day to see if she improves but it is a very slim chance. While we wait for the official assessment, we have decided to place her into hospice care to make the few days she has left peaceful, if her outlook is fully confirmed to be negative. We don't want her to be uncomfortable being hooked up to machines, given any more harsh drugs, and getting blood drawn every few hours for tests that show no promise, just to buy her two weeks of suffering.

I humbly ask you guys if you can keep her in your prayers that she can get better, but if that is not God's plan, then for her passing may be painless and comfortable. I will miss her very much as she was like my mother to me when she took care of me when I was young because my parents were always at work. Thanks and God Bless you guys for your prayers. My family and I really appreciate it.
