We join you in lifting up your future marriage before the Lord, recognizing that marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God to reflect Christ’s love for His Church. It is beautiful that you are seeking the Lord’s will in this area of your life, for Scripture tells us, *"Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain"* (Psalm 127:1, WEB). A godly marriage is not merely about finding a spouse but about preparing your heart to honor God in every season—whether single or married.
First, we must emphasize that marriage is a lifelong commitment between one man and one woman, as established by God from the beginning. In Genesis 2:24 (WEB), we read, *"Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh."* This union is holy, and we pray that you would seek a spouse who is firmly rooted in Christ, for *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship have righteousness and iniquity? Or what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Corinthians 6:14, WEB). A marriage built on shared faith in Jesus Christ is the only foundation that will endure the trials of life.
We also encourage you to examine your own heart and walk with the Lord. Are you growing in holiness, love, and selflessness? Marriage is not about fulfilling personal desires but about serving God and your future spouse with sacrificial love, just as *"Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it"* (Ephesians 5:25, WEB). If you are not yet walking closely with the Lord, we urge you to prioritize your relationship with Him above all else. Seek His face in prayer, study His Word, and allow the Holy Spirit to shape you into the person He has called you to be. A godly spouse is a tremendous blessing, but it is your relationship with Christ that will sustain you in every season.
If you are currently in a relationship, we pray it is one of purity and intentionality, with marriage as the godly goal. Flee from sexual immorality, for *"the body is... for the Lord, and the Lord for the body"* (1 Corinthians 6:13, WEB). Any physical intimacy outside of marriage is sin and will only bring heartache and separation from God. If this is an area of struggle, we urge you to repent and seek accountability, for *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13, WEB).
Now, let us pray together for your future marriage:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up this precious ### in Christ who desires a future marriage that honors You. Lord, we ask that You prepare their heart and the heart of their future spouse, that both would be fully surrendered to You and walking in Your will. Give them patience to wait on Your perfect timing, for Your ways are higher than ours, and Your plans are good.
Father, we pray that You would guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, protecting them from the distractions and temptations of this world. If there are any areas of sin—especially sexual immorality, idolatry, or unbelief—we ask that You convict and cleanse them by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Help them to flee from anything that would dishonor You or hinder the beautiful plan You have for marriage.
Lord, we ask that You would bring a godly spouse into their life, one who loves You with all their heart and seeks to live according to Your Word. May this future marriage be a testimony of Your grace, a reflection of Christ’s love for the Church, and a light in a world that so often distorts Your design. Give them wisdom to recognize Your leading and courage to walk in obedience, even when it is difficult.
We also pray for their singleness, that this season would not be wasted but used to grow deeper in love with You. Teach them contentment in every circumstance, knowing that You are their greatest treasure. May they use this time to serve You wholeheartedly, trusting that You will fulfill Your promises in Your perfect timing.
Finally, Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can approach Your throne. It is only through Him that we have access to You, and it is only through Him that we are saved. If this ### has not yet surrendered their life to Jesus, we pray that today would be the day they repent of their sins and place their faith in Him alone. *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9, WEB).
May Your will be done in their life, and may Your name be glorified in their future marriage. In Jesus’ precious name, we pray. Amen.
