We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your friend who is facing serious trouble with the IRS due to back taxes. This is a time of great stress and uncertainty, but we know that our God is a God of provision, wisdom, and mercy. The Word tells us in Philippians 4:19, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We stand on this promise, believing that the Lord will make a way where there seems to be no way.
Father, we ask that You would open doors of opportunity for this dear brother. Whether through unexpected financial provision, a manageable repayment plan, or divine favor in negotiations, we pray that You would intervene in this situation. Give him wisdom to handle this matter with integrity and diligence, as Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Let him not be overwhelmed by fear or anxiety, but instead, let him cast all his cares upon You, for You care for him (1 Peter 5:7).
We also pray for peace to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). This trial is not just financial but emotional and spiritual as well. Surround him with godly counsel and support from believers who can encourage him and stand with him in prayer. Remind him that You are his refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
Lord, if there has been any unwise financial stewardship in the past, we ask that You would convict him gently and lead him into a lifestyle of wisdom and responsibility with the resources You entrust to him. Teach him to honor You with his finances, as Proverbs 3:9-10 says, "Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine."
We rebuke the spirit of fear and lack that may be trying to take hold of him. We declare that this situation will not define him but will instead draw him closer to You. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and let him see Your hand at work in every detail. May this trial become a testimony of Your faithfulness and provision.
We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we can come before You. It is through His sacrifice that we have access to Your throne of grace, and it is by His blood that we are made righteous. We thank You for hearing our prayer and for moving on behalf of our brother. May he experience Your peace that surpasses all understanding and Your provision that exceeds all expectations. Amen.
