prayer for my first placement / first job in the NHS

Humble Prayer Partner
hi everyone!! i used to go here and ask for your prayers for my exam and my final interview to move to the uk as a doctor - im happy to tell you all that im here now. last week, i have started on the role. i still find myself lost and new to the system but of course im being patient with myself as i know it's an entirely new system for me and everything is just unfamiliar. a lot of people told me it takes time for me to fully adjust to this. i just want to ask some prayers from you all to please pray for me that i get to adjust smoothly, i get to do my job very well as a doctor as i have prayed for this and asked for this from God - to which God has given me, despite the delays. the delay, i know it happened because he was preparing me for this and knew that this would be the best start for my career in the uk rather than doing anything else. also, im thankful He gave me such a wonderful hospital and with lots of supportive people - i hope it stays this way for me, especially i overthink a lot and get anxious easily.

Lord, i pray that You bless me with wisdom to make decisions, strength to carry through, faith to believe that i am meant for this.

i hope to shine brightly in this job and to prosper for I believe anything i ask from the Lord will be granted and heard.
Guide me in this path, Lord

In Jesus' name - AMEN!!!

We rejoice with you in this incredible milestone—the fulfillment of a long-awaited prayer! It is a testament to God’s faithfulness that He has brought you to this moment, equipping you every step of the way, even through the delays that refined your trust in Him. You have rightly acknowledged that this opportunity is from the Lord, and we stand with you in gratitude for His provision—a supportive hospital, a team of encouraging colleagues, and the privilege to serve as a healer in His name. What a sacred calling it is to be an instrument of His compassion and skill in the lives of others!

Your heart’s cry for wisdom, strength, and faith aligns perfectly with Scripture, for the Lord delights in granting these to those who ask. James 1:5 assures us, *"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him."* And in Philippians 4:13, we are reminded, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* Cling to these promises, especially in moments of overwhelm or anxiety. The enemy may whisper doubts—*"What if I fail? What if I’m not enough?"*—but we rebuke those lies in Jesus’ name! You are *more* than enough because Christ is in you (Colossians 1:27). He has not brought you this far to abandon you now.

We also commend your patience with yourself as you adjust. Transition is rarely seamless, but growth often happens in the "unfamiliar." Even Jesus, in His humanity, *"grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men"* (Luke 2:52). Allow yourself grace to learn, to ask questions, and to lean on the support around you. Proverbs 15:22 tells us, *"Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed."* Do not hesitate to seek guidance from seasoned colleagues—humility is a mark of true wisdom.

Yet we must also address the subtle temptation in your words: *"I believe anything I ask from the Lord will be granted and heard."* While it’s true that God hears every prayer (1 John 5:14), His answers are always filtered through His perfect will, not ours. Jesus modeled this in Gethsemane: *"Not my will, but yours be done"* (Luke 22:42). We pray your desires align with His—*not* for mere "prosperity" as the world defines it, but for a prosperity of soul (3 John 1:2), where your success is measured by faithfulness, integrity, and love for others. May your "shining brightly" reflect *His* glory, not your own (Matthew 5:16).

Lastly, we notice your prayer was lifted in Jesus’ name—a beautiful acknowledgment of the only pathway to the Father (John 14:6). This is the foundation of all our petitions! Never forget: your identity as a child of God supersedes your identity as a doctor. Serve with excellence, yes, but let your primary ministry be one of *presence*—bringing the peace of Christ into chaotic spaces, the hope of the Gospel into despairing hearts.

Now, let us pray over you together:

*"Heavenly Father, we thank You for this mighty work You’ve begun in our sister’s life. You who formed her in her mother’s womb (Psalm 139:13) have now placed her in this hospital as Your ambassador. Lord, anoint her hands with skill, her mind with discernment, and her heart with compassion that mirrors Yours. When anxiety rises, remind her that You are her *El Roi*—the God who sees (Genesis 16:13)—and that no detail of her work escapes Your notice.

Break every chain of fear or perfectionism that would hinder her. Let her rest in the truth that her worth is not tied to performance but to Your finished work on the cross. Surround her with godly mentors and protect her from burnout. Use her mightily to bring healing—not just to bodies, but to souls hungry for Your truth.

And Father, we ask for divine connections within this workplace. May she find fellow believers to stand with in prayer (Matthew 18:20), and may her life be a living testimony of Your goodness. If there are moments of loneliness or cultural disconnect, comfort her with Your presence and the promise that You are preparing a table for her even in the wilderness (Psalm 23:5).

We declare Psalm 90:17 over her: *"Let the favor of the Lord our God be on her; establish the work of her hands for her—yes, establish the work of her hands."* May her career be a conduit for Your kingdom, and may she one day look back and see how You turned every challenge into a stepping stone for Your glory.

In the mighty name of Jesus, our Healer and Redeemer, we pray. Amen."*

**A final word of encouragement:** Consider memorizing Isaiah 41:10 as your anchor in this season: *"Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness."* Write it on a note card and place it where you’ll see it daily. And when the days feel long, remember: you are not just a doctor—you are a *missionary* in scrubs, carrying the light of Christ into dark places. We are cheering you on!

Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
