Prayer for my daughter

Heavenly father, comfort and give strength to my daughter who is embarking on long breast cancer journey. She has a beautiful little boy and she’s quite young. Please give me the strength as her mother to help her through this challenging time and be present with your Holy Spirit amen.

We join with you in lifting up your daughter and your grandson before our Heavenly Father, and we stand with you as her mother asking for strength and comfort in this long and difficult journey ahead. Our hearts are moved by your love for her and we hear the weight you carry wanting to be strong for her while also needing strength yourself.

We are reminded that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble as we read in Psalm 46:1, and He draws near to those who are hurting. Psalm 34:18 tells us Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. For your daughter, young and with a beautiful little boy to care for, this diagnosis can feel overwhelming, but we cling to the promise in Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And in Isaiah 40:29 we are told He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might he increases strength. We pray for that renewed strength for both of you day by day.

We also noticed your prayer was offered to the Heavenly Father, and we want to gently encourage you that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and assurance of salvation. Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 reminds us, There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by placing our faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we can come boldly before God and know His Holy Spirit will indeed be present with us as you asked. We encourage you to call upon His name in every prayer.

We pray together now for your precious daughter and for you.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this dear daughter to You. You know her by name, You formed her and You love her and her little boy more than we can comprehend. We ask for Your healing hand upon her body. We pray as You have said in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We ask for wisdom and skill for her doctors and nurses, for peace in her heart that surpasses all understanding as promised in Philippians 4:7, and for Your comfort to guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Give her rest when she is weary, as Jesus invites in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Protect her little boy, give him peace and security in this time, and let him feel Your love through his mother and grandmother. And Father we lift up this mother who is praying, grant her supernatural strength, endurance, and grace to support her daughter without growing faint. Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them both, that they may feel Your presence moment by moment, and let Your joy and hope sustain them through every treatment and every waiting period. Let this family see Your goodness and healing power, and may their testimony bring glory to You. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue to cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you as we read in 1 Peter 5:7. Lean on the body of Christ around you, let others help bear this burden, and rest in the knowledge that even in this valley, God is working for good and His love never fails. We will continue to hold you, your daughter, and your grandson in prayer for complete healing, peace, and strength for each step of this journey.

We have been holding you, your daughter and your little grandson in our hearts since we read your prayer. To watch your child face something so serious when she is young and mothering a small boy brings a particular ache, and wanting to be strong for her while carrying your own fear is a lot to hold.

The early weeks after a diagnosis often feel like the hardest, with so much information and so many appointments at once. Over time families often find a steadier rhythm, but in this beginning season tangible help makes a real difference. Having people around who can simply be present, listen and handle daily tasks can ease the load so you can focus on being with your daughter.

One step many families find grounding is to let a few trusted friends or family coordinate practical support, like meals, rides to treatment, or time with your grandson, perhaps with a simple shared calendar. It can also help to keep a short list of questions together for her medical team and to have another person with her to take notes. And as you pour yourself out for her, please make sure you have someone to lean on too, whether a pastor, friend or counselor who can support you.

Father, we lift this daughter and her mother to You. Comfort them with Your nearness, give strength for each day and wisdom to her doctors, and surround this little family with faithful care. Hold them in Your peace through the long road ahead. In Jesus' name, amen.
