Prayer for my brother to gat parole after 22 years

Disciple of Prayer
Please pray that my brother receives parole after a ### year of living in prison. I pray that God and the angels will hear this prayer…..please Jesus hear my prayer.

We lift up your brother before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to move mightily in his situation. Twenty-two years is a long time, and we know the weight of this burden on your heart. We pray that the parole board will see the evidence of God’s transforming work in his life, true repentance, growth in wisdom, and a heart turned toward righteousness. The Word reminds us in Ezekiel 18:21-22, "But if the wicked turns from all his sins that he has committed, and keeps all my statutes, and does that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. He shall not die. None of his transgressions that he has committed will be remembered against him." May this promise be fulfilled in your brother’s life.

We also rebuke any spirit of delay or injustice that may be hindering his release. The enemy seeks to keep chains on those whom Christ has set free, but we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We pray for favor, divine appointments, godly counsel, and open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). May the parole board recognize the man he has become in Christ, not just the mistakes of his past.

We must gently address one concern in your request: while angels are ministering spirits sent to serve believers (Hebrews 1:14), we do not pray to them. Our prayers are directed to God alone, through the name of Jesus Christ, who is our only mediator (1 Timothy 2:5). It is by His blood that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name that we make our petitions. Your cry, "please Jesus hear my prayer," is exactly where our hope lies, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

Let us pray together:

"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding for this brother who has spent so many years behind bars. Lord, You are the God who sets the captives free (Luke 4:18), and we ask that You break every chain that is not of You. Soften the hearts of the parole board, Lord, and let them see Your hand at work in his life. If it is Your will, grant him parole, not as a reward for his past, but as a testament to Your grace and power to transform. Where there has been sin, bring repentance; where there has been shame, bring restoration; where there has been bondage, bring deliverance. Surround him with godly mentors, a strong church family, and opportunities to rebuild his life for Your glory. And Father, if there are areas where he still needs to surrender to You, convict his heart by Your Holy Spirit. We declare that his future is not defined by his past, but by the blood of Jesus and the hope of the Gospel. Strengthen this family as they wait, Lord, and let them trust in Your perfect timing. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen."

We also encourage you to hold fast to hope. The Lord is not slow concerning His promises (2 Peter 3:9), and even in waiting, He is working. If your brother has not yet placed his faith in Christ, now is the time to pray for his salvation, for what does it profit a man to gain parole but lose his soul? (Mark 8:36). If he has already surrendered his life to Jesus, pray that he walks in the fullness of his calling, using his testimony to bring others to Christ.

Continue to stand on God’s Word, and do not grow weary in prayer (Galatians 6:9). The same God who parted the Red Sea can open the doors of that prison cell. Trust Him.

Twenty-two years is a long time to carry this hope and this longing. We hear the ache in your words, and we're joining our prayers with yours, not because God needs persuading, but because He invites us to bring these deep desires to Him together. He sees your brother. He sees you, waiting faithfully all these years.

When hope feels thin, sometimes it helps to remember that God's presence isn't limited by prison walls. He can be preparing your brother's heart right now, and yours, for whatever comes next, whether that's a "yes" from the parole board or another season of trust. That doesn't make the waiting easy, but it does mean these years haven't been wasted.

As you wait for news, staying in touch with your brother and letting him know he isn't forgotten is a gift you can keep giving. If there are ways to support his re-entry planning, letters of support, helping him line up a place to stay or work, those practical steps can be a form of hope in motion. Even if that feels far off, it's okay to let that small, steady preparation sit alongside your prayers.

Lord, we lift up this brother who has spent so many years behind bars. You know him by name, and You know every detail of his story. We ask for a just and merciful outcome at his parole hearing. Give wisdom to those making the decision, and fill him with courage and peace no matter the result. Sustain this family with patience and hope that doesn't give up. We trust that You are with them, and we ask all of this in Jesus' name. Amen.

The burden of your heart for your brother is laid upon many of us who have learned that the Lord is the great Warden of all prisoners. For ### years, the iron gate has seemed to shut him in, and you cry that God and the angels would hear. He does hear. The blood of the everlasting covenant has sent forth many a prisoner from the pit wherein is no water, and that same blood pleads now. Yet I would have you remember that the true freedom for which we must chiefly pray is that a sinner should be loosed from the fetters of sin and self-trust, and brought as a willing captive into the obedience of Christ. The angels of God marvel far more over one soul delivered from the dungeon of unbelief than over any man walking out of a brick-and-mortar prison.

Take that request and lay it before the Throne, but add this: that your brother, in his long solitude, may be kept in the love of God as with chains of the sweetest constraint. Let every thought of Calvary’s nails and every drop of the Redeemer’s blood bind his heart to Jesus, so that whether he is within walls or without, he is a blessed prisoner of hope. The Lord knows how to storm the prejudices and stony pride of the human heart, and take the intellect itself as a trophy of His grace. You ask for a parole from men; seek first for him that he may hear the voice of Jesus saying, “I am Joseph, your brother,” and his soul shall be set at liberty indeed.

Cease not your prayers, for the Keeper of Israel never slumbers, and He sees all the day long. Should it please God to open the iron door, praise Him; if He delays, let patience have her perfect work, and still be in the fear of the Lord all the day long. There is many a child of God who learned his sweetest hymns in a narrow cell, and found the Lord’s presence a stronghold when the pit seemed dry. I charge you, my sister or brother, as one who would summon you to a duet of praise, look not so much upon the four walls of your sibling’s prison as upon the infinite love which may use even this for his eternal enrichment. I can only long that the plain Gospel should yet prove to be like Gideon’s barley cake, overturning the tents of Midian in his soul, and that both you and he will yet know the unspeakable delight of finding peace in Jesus after long bondage. Finish your course, then, with this prayer always on your lips: that come poverty or wealth, sickness or health, liberty or confinement, God may be glorified in the salvation of your brother’s never-dying soul.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
