We hear your burden for your father and your brother and we join you in bringing them before the Lord together in Jesus name.
We are grieved to hear that your father, who serves as a pastor, uses cuss words and gossips. Those who teach will receive heavier judgment, as James 3:1 reminds us, and a pastor is called to be an example to the flock. The Scripture says, Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up as the need may be, that it may give grace to those who hear Ephesians 4:29. It also says, Out of the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so James 3:10. And concerning gossip, A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends Proverbs 16:28. We must gently rebuke this, for gossip and corrupt language do not reflect Christ and can wound the church he is called to shepherd. We pray he will repent and pursue the qualification that the overseer therefore must be without reproach 1 Timothy 3:2, speaking with grace and truth.
We also lift up your brother who struggles with heavy drinking, lying, and wasting money on beer. The Word clearly warns, Don't be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18, and Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1. Drunkenness is listed among the works of the flesh that keep us from inheriting the kingdom Galatians 5:21, and lying is something we are called to put off, for it says, Don't lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old man with his doings Colossians 3:9. Wasting resources given by God on excess also shows poor stewardship, for we are to honor God with all He has entrusted to us. We lovingly rebuke these patterns and pray your brother will turn from them and seek freedom in Christ.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved Romans 10:9. It is by calling on the name of Jesus that we are forgiven and reconciled to God, and it is in His name that our prayers are heard.
So together we pray, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We lift up this dear father who pastors Your people. Convict his heart where his speech has been corrupt and where gossip has caused division. Cleanse his lips and fill his mouth with grace and truth, that he may shepherd with integrity and be above reproach. Restore his witness and let his life adorn the gospel he preaches. We also lift up this brother. Deliver him from the bondage of alcohol, break the chains of addiction, and set him free by Your Spirit. Give him a hatred for lies and a love for truth, and teach him to be a faithful steward of the money and life You have given him. Bring him to repentance and to saving faith if he does not yet know You. Comfort and strengthen the one who submitted this request, give them courage to speak the truth in love to both father and brother, to pray without ceasing, and to trust You for transformation. Let Your will be done in this family and let Christ be glorified in all things. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to continue to intercede for them daily, to speak to your father and brother with respect and love, sharing Scripture gently when the opportunity arises, and to encourage your brother to seek godly counsel and accountability for his drinking. Trust that God is able to convict, restore, and redeem, for with God all things are possible Matthew 19:26.

Your prayer for your father and your brother is a right and weighty burden, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.
It is a solemn thing when a man stands as a pastor before the people, for he that teacheth shall be judged with the stricter judgment. The tongue which should publish the gospel must not be defiled with corrupt communication. Our Lord has told us that gossip and unwholesome talk corrupt good manners and grieve the Spirit, and that no cuss word should proceed out of the mouth which is set apart to bless God and to feed His flock. We will pray that your father may be brought under deep conviction, that his lips may be cleansed as with a coal from the altar, that he may speak only that which is good to the use of edifying, and that his life in the home may adorn the doctrine he preaches abroad.
We will pray also for your brother, who is ensnared by strong drink and by lying. Drunkenness wastes the gifts of God, ruins the soul and the body, and lying lips are an abomination to the Lord who is acquainted with all our ways and compasses our path and our lying down. We do not ask God to bless these sins, but to deliver him from them. We will pray that he may come to himself, hate the cup which has mastered him, love truth, speak truth, and steward his money and his days as one who must give account to God.
Remember that a family is not born a Church, and the little ones born into a family are not born into the Church. Grace must be sought for each soul by name. In many houses there is a sad neglect of family worship, and where there is no prayer the children are not impressed with any true piety. We exhort you, as you have opportunity, to keep to morning and evening prayer in the household, to let the voice of confession and supplication and singing be heard under your roof, that it may be a distinct confession that that family loves and worships God. Happy is that family where father and mother bend the knee together and the children are trained up in the fear of the Lord.
He puts affliction into our family for this very purpose, that we may seek after a better country, even a heavenly one. Let this trial drive you nearer to Christ, who alone is the way of salvation, and who prays for His own because they belong to the Father.
Let us pray together. O Lord, let the whole earth be filled with Thy glory, and begin in this household. Convert, we beseech Thee, this father and this brother. Grant repentance, grant a new heart and a new tongue, grant sobriety and truthfulness, and make this family to be indeed a seed to serve Thee when our heads are under the clods of the valley. Bring each one to kiss the Son and to walk in holiness, for Thy mercy's sake. Amen.

Your request for your father and your brother has been heard and we bring them before the Lord with you in prayer.
We grieve with you over what you describe. A pastor is given a great honor, for God has set him apart to speak His word and to lead His people, and his mouth is set apart for that holy purpose. Scripture reminds us to consider what our mouth has uttered and what table it is worthy of, what it touches and what it tastes. The same mouth that prays Our Father who art in heaven and that sings Holy, Holy, Holy with the angels is not made for cursing or for reviling a brother. When the mouth is used for gossip and for foul language it is defiled, and it cannot stand with confidence beside the heavenly altar. We pray that your father will remember the height of his calling, that he will turn from empty and harmful speech, and that his words will again become worthy of the gospel he preaches. May God grant him a renewed fear of the Lord and a love for his neighbor that guards his tongue, for the saints pleased God by their love for others and not by careless words.
We also lift up your brother. Heavy drinking, lying, and wasting what God has provided are not small matters. The apostle warns that if anyone who is called a brother lives as a drunkard we are not to share in that way of life with him, not out of hatred but out of love that desires his rescue. Such habits make a person shameless toward all, respecting neither family nor friend and in the end not even hearing God Himself, being intoxicated by desire and deaf to what would profit his soul. No brother or father can redeem another on the day of judgment, for God will reward each according to his works, and each must turn to Christ himself. We pray that your brother will be delivered from the hold of alcohol, that he will turn from lies to truth, and that he will learn stewardship over the gifts God has given him.

Help this family to walk in a spiritual love that comes down from heaven, a love that does not excuse sin but also is not overthrown by injury, a love that speaks the truth and continues to intercede. Strengthen the one who prayed for them to remain faithful in prayer, to speak with gentleness and courage, and to trust Your power to change hearts. We ask this in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, with whom be glory to You and to the Holy Spirit forever. Amen.
