Prayer for Mom - Mental Healing & Unemployment

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I am requesting prayer for my mom. She has been unemployed for the past 3 years and I have been taking care of her. I am no longer able to do so, as she can be very difficult. We believe that she some mental illness but she will not admit it or get help. She is emotionally unavailable and has fits from her triggers which cause her to be very irate and unreasonable. Occasionally, I am able to get through to her but does not usually last long. She is unhappy living with me and wants to move to NYC, we are in TX. She is willing to live and shelter and figure it out from there (she has been homeless before). This is very challenging to me because I feel as though I am putting her out, but I do not have the strength to keep caring for her. I also feel as though it’s not appreciated, when she is anger she says very ugly things to me. No one in my family is able to help her. I just want my mom to be healed, employed, and have a better life and relationship with us as her family. I am nervous sending her to NYC but pray God is with her and opens up doors for her. Thank you and God Bless.

We lift your heartfelt request before the Lord, knowing that He is a God of compassion, healing, and provision. Your love for your mother is evident, even in the midst of such deep struggles, and we honor your commitment to care for her despite the hardships. The burden you carry is heavy, and we pray that the Lord will strengthen you, grant you wisdom, and provide a way forward that honors Him.

First, we must acknowledge that mental illness is a very real struggle, and it is not something to be ignored or dismissed. Your mother’s refusal to seek help or admit her condition is a barrier that only God can break through. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 3:5-6, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* Your mother’s heart and mind are in God’s hands, and we pray that He would soften her to receive the help she needs—whether through medical care, counseling, or godly support. It is not wrong to set boundaries, especially when her behavior is harmful to you. The Lord does not call us to enable destructive patterns, but to act in love while also protecting the well-being He has entrusted to us.

Your feelings of guilt and fear are understandable, but we encourage you to release them to the Lord. You are not "putting her out"; you are recognizing your own limitations and trusting God to provide for her in ways you cannot. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 11:28, *"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest."* You have carried this burden long enough, and it is time to surrender it to Him. If your mother chooses to go to NYC, we pray that the Lord would go before her, preparing a place of safety, community, and opportunity. We ask that He would surround her with people who can offer godly wisdom, support, and even professional help. Psalm 37:25 declares, *"I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread."* Though she may face uncertainty, God is her provider, and He will not abandon her.

We also pray for your mother’s heart to be healed and renewed. The anger and bitterness she expresses are signs of deep pain, and only the Lord can bring true restoration. Ezekiel 36:26 says, *"I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."* We ask that God would break through her resistance, convict her of her need for Him, and lead her to repentance and peace. May she encounter the love of Christ in a way that transforms her mind and emotions, allowing her to receive the help and hope she so desperately needs.

For you, we pray for release from the weight of responsibility you’ve carried. The Lord sees your sacrifice, and He will sustain you. Philippians 4:19 assures us, *"My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus."* We ask that He would restore your strength, grant you peace about this decision, and heal any wounds her words or actions have caused. You are not defined by her rejection or anger; you are defined by Christ’s love for you. We also pray that the Lord would mend your relationship with your mother in His timing. Though it may not happen immediately, we trust that He is able to redeem what is broken and bring reconciliation where there has been strife.

Lastly, we must address the absence of the name of Jesus in your request. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father, and it is by His authority that we pray. Jesus said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* There is no other name by which we can be saved or through which our prayers are heard. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. He alone can carry your burdens, heal your heart, and bring true transformation to your mother’s life. If you have never confessed Him as your Savior, we invite you to do so now, for *"if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved"* (Romans 10:9).

**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear child of Yours and their mother. Lord, You see the depth of their pain, the weight of their burdens, and the longing in their hearts for healing and restoration. We ask that You would move powerfully in this situation, beginning with the heart of this mother. Softening her, Lord, to receive the help she needs—whether medical, emotional, or spiritual. Break through her resistance and pride, and lead her to a place of humility where she can acknowledge her struggles and turn to You for healing. You are the God who binds up the brokenhearted and sets the captives free (Isaiah 61:1). We pray that You would do that for her, Lord.

Father, we also lift up this child who has carried such a heavy load. Comfort them, strengthen them, and release them from any guilt or fear. You have not called them to bear this alone, and we thank You that You are their Provider and Protector. Give them wisdom as they navigate this transition, and surround their mother with Your divine protection and provision as she moves forward. Open doors for her in NYC that no one can shut—doors to shelter, community, employment, and most importantly, to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ if she does not know Him.

Lord, we pray for reconciliation in this family. Heal the wounds caused by harsh words and unresolved pain. Restore what has been broken, and let Your peace rule in their hearts. We ask that You would provide godly counselors, mentors, or believers to come alongside both of them, offering support and pointing them to You.

Finally, Father, we pray that You would draw this entire family closer to Yourself. May they find their hope, identity, and strength in You alone. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for allowing us the sacred honor of lifting your mother—and you—before the Lord in these difficult days. Your love for her, even in the midst of such deep struggle, is a testament to the faithfulness God has placed in your heart. We have been praying earnestly for her mental healing, for softness where there is hardness, for peace where there is turmoil, and for divine provision where there is lack. We have also prayed for you, that the Lord would surround you with His strength, comfort your heart in moments of weariness, and remind you that He sees every sacrifice you’ve made—even when it feels unnoticed or unappreciated.

The burden of caring for a parent in this way is one few understand, and we want you to know we stand with you in it. If God has moved in this situation—whether through a breakthrough in her heart, a job opportunity, a restored relationship, or even a small but tangible step forward—we would love to rejoice with you in a praise report. His timing is perfect, even when it doesn’t align with our hopes, and we trust He is working in ways we cannot yet see.

If this season remains heavy and unresolved, please don’t hesitate to share an update or repost your request. We will continue to intercede for her healing, for wisdom as you navigate this transition with her, and for God’s protection over her if she moves to ###. May He go before her, preparing a path only He can see, and may He give you supernatural peace as you release this into His hands. You are not failing her by acknowledging your limits—you are trusting the One who holds you both.

We are praying that God would restore what has been broken in your family, that He would bind up wounds with His love, and that He would provide for her in ways that leave no doubt of His faithfulness. Keep seeking Him, even in the waiting. He is near to the brokenhearted, and He has not forgotten you or your mother.

In Jesus Name.
