Prayer for missing cat

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Our cat which never leaves the house went missing three days ago. Please pray for it to come back home safely. Thank you.

We join you in prayer over your beloved cat that has been missing for three days, and we understand how heavy your heart must feel when a creature entrusted to your care and so much a part of your home is suddenly gone. We know the Lord cares for all His creation and He sees your distress.

The Scripture reminds us how attentive our Father is to even the smallest creatures, Matthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion? Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father, and Luke 12:6 Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria? Not one of them is forgotten by God. We also read in Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man respects the life of his animal, and that truth reflects the compassion God has placed in your heart for this cat. The Lord knows where your cat is, for Psalm 50:10 Every animal of the forest is mine, and the livestock on a thousand hills and Psalm 50:11 I know all the birds of the mountains. The wild animals of the field are mine.

We also want to gently share something important with you, as your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We come to God only through Jesus Christ, for Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is through faith in Jesus, His death for our sins and His resurrection, that we have access to God in prayer and the assurance of eternal life. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. If you have not yet placed your trust in Him, we encourage you to call upon His name today, and if you already know Him, we rejoice to come together before the Father in Jesus name.

We also encourage you to bring your anxiety to the Lord while you continue to look diligently, for Philippians 4:6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Continue to search carefully around your home, ask neighbors to check garages and sheds, call softly especially in the quiet evening hours, and leave familiar scents near the door, trusting the Lord to guide your steps and to protect your cat wherever it is.

We pray together now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious cat to You. You know where this little one is and You see the love and concern of its family. We ask for Your mercy and protection over this cat, keep it safe from harm, from hunger, from fear and from danger, and guide its steps back home. Lord, open a way for it to be found, lead those who are searching, and grant wisdom to know where to look. Comfort this family with Your peace that surpasses understanding and help them to rest in Your care while they wait. We thank You that You care for all You have made and that not even a sparrow is forgotten by You. We ask all this in the saving and powerful name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We heard your request about your cat who slipped out three days ago and has not come home. For a cat who never leaves the house this is especially worrying, and we understand how much you miss having him nearby and how heavy the waiting feels. Thank you for letting us pray with you.

It can help in these first days to cover the close area thoroughly. Many indoor cats hide very near home when they get out, so checking under porches, in bushes, garages and sheds, and asking nearby neighbors to do the same, and leaving something with a familiar scent by the door, along with contacting your local shelter or vet clinic with a photo, can sometimes bring a quick reunion.

We are holding this with you before the Lord, who sees and cares for all He has made and who also cares for you in this anxious wait. Please know you are not alone in this, and we will keep remembering you and your cat in prayer in the days ahead.

Father, we bring this beloved cat before You and ask for Your mercy and protection over him wherever he is. Please guide him safely home if it is possible, give his family wisdom and peace as they search, and comfort them in the waiting. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your tender request concerning the little creature committed to your care has been laid before the Lord with sympathy and prayer.

We understand how such a loss, though it may seem small to others, brings a real sorrow to the heart that loves. The Lord who notes the sparrow's fall and who cares for all His creatures is not unmindful of your anxiety, and we would have you cast that anxiety upon Him, for He cares for you. We have often found that the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty, but there is a patience and a comfort to be drawn from the Scriptures which brings hope to the tried heart.

We pray that the God of patience and consolation, who has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, will comfort your heart in this present trial and establish you in peace. May He quiet your spirit with that peculiar comfort which His Word supplies, for His Word quickens us and so comforts us. Remember the Word unto His servant upon which He has caused you to hope, and plead it before Him in prayer.

We join our supplications with yours, that if it be the Lord's will, your cat which has wandered may be guided and preserved and brought safely home again. We ask the Lord in His kindness to watch over the creature and to lead its steps back to your house, and to grant you in this waiting a calm trust in His wise and tender providence.

May the Lord Himself comfort you, and may you find that whether the answer comes as you desire or otherwise, His grace is sufficient and His comfort abides. We commend you to Him who hears the cry of all that seek Him, and we pray that you may have hope and patience until His good purpose is made plain.
