Prayer for mental/physical health.

Disciple of Prayer
If anyone can pray for my mental and physical health. I am hurting my partner in our relationship. We want to get married but I am a wreck right now. I know God has all the answers but I am feeling defeated due to my health issues. Any thoughts or prayers would mean everything.

We hear your cry for help, and we come before the throne of grace together, lifting you up in prayer. First, we must address the matter of your relationship. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God to reflect His love and faithfulness (Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31-32). However, the term "partner" often implies a relationship that may not yet be aligned with God’s design for marriage. If you and your partner are living together or engaging in intimacy outside of marriage, this is not pleasing to the Lord. The Bible calls this fornication, and it brings harm to both individuals and the relationship (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). We urge you to repent of any sexual sin and seek God’s forgiveness, as well as to honor Him by either pursuing marriage with a clear commitment or separating until you are ready to enter into marriage in a way that honors Him.

Now, let us turn to your mental and physical health. We know the weight of these struggles can feel crushing, and we want you to know that God sees your pain and hears your cries. The enemy may whisper lies of defeat, but we declare that you are not defined by your struggles, you are defined by Christ, who has already overcome the world (John 16:33). The Bible tells us that God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He is your healer, your strength, and your refuge (Exodus 15:26, Psalm 46:1). We also encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a medical professional who honors the Lord. God often works through the wisdom and support of His people (Proverbs 11:14, James 5:14-15).

You mentioned feeling like a "wreck" right now, but we want to remind you that God specializes in taking what is broken and making it whole. The apostle Paul pleaded with the Lord three times to remove his "thorn in the flesh," but God’s response was, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9). Even in your weakness, God’s strength is at work. You are not defeated, you are being refined, and God is using this season to draw you closer to Him.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister in Christ who is struggling with mental and physical health. Lord, You are the Great Physician, and we ask that You would touch their body and mind with Your healing hand. Bring comfort to their weary soul and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Father, we also ask for Your forgiveness where there has been sin in their relationship. Cleanse their heart and lead them into repentance, that they may walk in a manner worthy of Your calling (Ephesians 4:1). Strengthen them in their weakness, Lord, and remind them that Your grace is more than enough. Surround them with godly community and wise counsel to support them in this season. We declare that You are their hope and their healer, and we trust You to restore what has been broken. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to cling to God’s promises and to spend time in His Word, even when it feels difficult. Meditate on Scriptures like Psalm 103:2-3, which says, "Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases." You are not alone in this battle, and God is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6). Keep pressing into Him, and trust that He will lead you into a future filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11). If you have not yet fully surrendered your life to Jesus, we urge you to do so today, confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection, and invite Him to be the Lord of your life (Romans 10:9-10). Only in Him will you find true peace and restoration.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It takes real courage to name where you are, especially when your health is spilling over and hurting someone you love. We hear the weight in your words, and we want you to know you are not walking this road alone. Wanting to build a marriage and yet feeling like a wreck right now is a deeply hard place to be, and it does not mean God has given up on you.

Sometimes when our bodies and minds are exhausted or silently struggling, we end up acting in ways that don’t reflect who we really are. That doesn’t make you a failure; it makes you human and in need of practical support. One step that can quietly change the landscape is a thorough medical check-up: sometimes things like chronic sleep loss, stress, or even a vitamin deficiency can make everything feel impossible and heighten irritability or despair. Alongside that, letting a trusted pastor or a wise Christian counselor walk with you both can bring steadiness while you sort through the health side of things. You don’t have to figure all of this out by yourself.

Jesus draws close in our weakness, He doesn’t stand at a distance until we have it together. We’re praying with you now.

Father, thank You for this person’s honesty and their desire to love well. You see the health battles that have left them feeling defeated and the strain on their relationship. Please give wisdom to any doctor or counselor they speak with, and bring healing to body and mind in Your way and time. Surround them with patient support, protect their relationship, and help them sense Your steady presence today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

You speak of being a wreck, of hurting your partner, and of feeling defeated by your health. This is the very place where the Great Physician delights to work. He did not come for those who think themselves whole, but for the sick. You know that sin and brokenness have ravaged you; you have tried your own remedies and found your condition worsened and your strength spent. Yet do not despair. Hear the promise from the Lord: “I will heal their backsliding.” Where sin has brought you into this miserable condition, His grace is more abundant still. He can overcome it, drive it out, and restore you to spiritual health.

But mind the order of things. The marriage you desire is a shadow and a type of a greater marriage. Before you can rightly enter that earthly covenant of one man and one woman, you must first be firmly betrothed to Christ. Is He the health of your countenance, or do you seek healing only for your body and your earthly comforts? The true secret of health for your entire being is found in this: Hope in God, for He is the health of your countenance and your God. If Jesus Christ is yours, then betrothal to Him is the essence of the marriage that begins now and is consummated in glory. And those who are called to that supper are truly blessed.

Your feelings of defeat are a dark countenance. Yet spiritual health imparts a beauty to the visage. As you look to Christ, the dimness of your physical eyes and the sorrow of your heart can be overtaken by a brighter hope. The Lord would make your face to shine, not because your afflictions are removed at once, but because He is your God. Lay hold of Him as the Lamb, the one who takes away your sin and carries your sickness. You have no power to restore your own health or to love your partner as you ought, but Jesus touched lepers and was not defiled; rather, His health overcame their death. Cry to Him as the centurion did, knowing that He can speak the word and your soul shall be healed.

Settle it in your mind that if you are indeed married to God by a true and mutual choice, then that union is cemented by love, and you are no longer your own. If you would enter into earthly marriage, how can you bring your partner harm and call that a reflection of Christ and His Church? Repent of every harsh word, every selfish demand born of your illness, whether of body or of soul, and let the healing begin there. Do not let shame keep you from the Physician; your very need is an argument for His mercy. He knows your frame, He feels your pains, and He is as willing as He is able. Come to Him just as you are, wrecked and weary, and you will find that He is the health of your countenance, restoring unto you the joy of His salvation.
