Father, I agree with these requests on Joey's behalf. Please comfort Him and heal his heart from the hurt inflicted by the woman he was ready to commit his future to love and support. Dear Lord, I pray You would give him insight and revelation, confirmation and assurance that following You and waiting for a lady of integrity who loves You more than anything, is the right path to be on. Help him to forgive the gal who let him down, even though she's not the one to be his wife. Help him not to allow any root of bitterness or anger to settle within him, but to forgive with the same forgiveness that he has been forgiven by You for his own sins. Lord, bless Joey, help him and may Your Holy Spirit guide him to an ever closer walk with You, loving You and serving You. Give him godly friends who will encourage him support his walk of faith. Protect him from the lies of the enemy, and worldly philosophies and opinions. Let his values and goals be governed by the Truth, let it dwell richly in him and continue to transform his mind and soul toward the likeness of our Savior Jesus Christ.
Something I read today reminded me how deceptive and destructive this world's values can be. Colossians 2:10 says, "and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power." and just before that, verse 8 says, "beware lest anyone cheat [rob] you through philosophy and empty deceit according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world and not according to Christ."
There is a line in a movie that came out some years ago, where a guy tells a girl he is with that "she completes him" and then at the end of the movie the star also tells his love interest that she completes him, and everyone is crying and grabbing tissues, blah blah blah. And I think that phrase has caught on like some mantra and everyone is looking for the person that will complete them.
This is a total lie of the enemy! He took a truth from the very word of God, and twisted it into some lofty dream that no other human being can fulfill for another. We are not completed by our husband or wife. We are completed by Jesus Christ, no one else! Henry's Blackaby's comment on verse 15 says, "Believers who are in Christ have all they need for life and godliness; nothing is lacking." Amen to that!
I'm not saying finding a wonderful God-sent person to share your life with is not a great thing. (I've been blessed with that for 20 years

) But it does not complete you, that job was done on the Cross by your Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
May God Bless You and impress this truth deep within your own heart during this time, Joey. Let no one rob you of the knowledge that Christ has already completed you. Anything beyond that is just extra icing on the cake!
