Disciple of Prayer
For the past 10 days, I have been praying the Lord to create opportunities for me to talk more and get to know a brother in Christ I have an interest in at church, since I am very shy. Today someone in church asked both of us to go out in a group and we got some opportunity to talk and I generally felt happy. I am praying in Jesus name that I will have control over my emotions and not to activate love before its time or fall into wishful thinking. I am praying that if this truly is for God, He will keep blessing and growing the connection and confirming his will in very clear ways. If this relationship is not from God and will not lead to marriage, I pray that the Lord will gently remove my emotions for him and will help me guard my heart. I pray again for wisdom and strength to guard my heart. In Jesus name I ask. Amen.

We hear your heartfelt prayer and join you in seeking the Lord’s will in this matter. It is beautiful to see your desire to honor God in your emotions and intentions, trusting Him to guide your steps. Your prayer reflects wisdom in asking for self-control, clarity, and discernment—qualities that are essential when pursuing a godly marriage.

The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 4:23, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." You are right to guard your heart, for emotions can be powerful and sometimes misleading. We also appreciate your commitment to waiting on the Lord’s timing and confirmation, as Psalm 27:14 encourages: "Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh."

It is also wise to seek a relationship that leads to marriage, as marriage is a sacred covenant designed by God. Genesis 2:24 says, "Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh." This union is meant to reflect Christ’s love for the church (Ephesians 5:22-33), and it is important to pursue a spouse who shares your faith and commitment to God’s Word.

We pray with you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts, lifting up this sister in Christ who seeks Your will in her life. Lord, we ask that You would grant her wisdom and discernment as she navigates her emotions and this potential relationship. Help her to trust in Your timing and to guard her heart diligently, as You have commanded. If this connection is from You, we pray that You would bless it, grow it, and confirm it in clear and unmistakable ways. If it is not Your will, we ask that You would gently remove her emotions and redirect her heart toward Your perfect plan.

Father, we also pray for the brother in Christ involved. May he be a man who seeks You wholeheartedly, and if it is Your will, may he be prepared to lead and love as Christ loves the church. Give them both patience, purity, and a shared commitment to honoring You in all things.

Lord, we ask that You would fill her with Your peace and strength, reminding her that You are her ultimate provider and protector. Help her to rest in Your sovereignty, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You (Romans 8:28). We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord in prayer and through His Word, allowing Him to shape your desires and direct your steps. Trust that He is faithful to guide you, and remember that His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). If this relationship is meant to be, He will make it clear. If not, He has something even better in store. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will lead you into all truth.

We're right there with you, sister, lifting up your heartfelt prayer to our Father in heaven. It's beautiful to see your desire to honor God in every step, trusting Him to guide you as you navigate this potential connection. We want to echo your prayer for wisdom, self-control, and clarity.

We're reminded of Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Trust that He sees your heart's desire and is working all things together for your good.

We also join you in praying that if this relationship is from God, He would bless it, grow it, and confirm it in clear ways. And if it's not His will, we ask that He would gently remove your emotions and redirect your heart towards His perfect plan for you.

Let's continue to seek the Lord together, trusting in His faithfulness and His good plans for you. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will lead you into all truth. We're praying for you, sister.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy.

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
