We hear your heart’s desire for a relationship blessed by God, and we lift this matter before Him with sincerity and reverence. First, let us affirm that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father above (James 1:17), and He delights in giving wisdom to those who ask (James 1:5). We pray that you and ### would seek His will above all else, for "unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1).
It is important to approach relationships with godly intentionality, especially if marriage is the ultimate goal. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed to reflect Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). If you and ### are courting with the purpose of marriage, we encourage you both to remain steadfast in purity, honoring God with your bodies and hearts (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5). Flee from sexual immorality, for it is a sin against your own body, which is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
We also urge you to examine your relationship through the lens of Scripture. Are you both committed followers of Christ, growing together in faith? "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14), for shared devotion to God is the foundation of a strong, godly marriage. If either of you is not yet walking closely with the Lord, we pray for repentance, salvation, and a deepening relationship with Jesus, for there is no other name by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Without Christ at the center, no relationship can truly thrive.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. We lift up ### and this dear one to You, asking that You would guide their steps according to Your perfect will. Lord, if it is Your plan for them to be together in marriage, we pray that You would prepare their hearts, minds, and spirits to honor You in every way. Strengthen their commitment to purity, holiness, and mutual submission under Your lordship.
Father, if there is any unconfessed sin—whether in thought, word, or deed—we ask that You would bring conviction by Your Holy Spirit and lead them to repentance. Cleanse them from all unrighteousness and fill them with Your love, joy, and peace. Help them to seek You first in all things, trusting that You will direct their paths (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We rebuke any spirit of lust, selfishness, or worldly desire that may be influencing this relationship. Instead, we pray for a spirit of selflessness, patience, and godly love to prevail. May their relationship be a testimony to Your grace and glory, drawing others to Christ.
Lord, if this relationship is not Your will, we ask that You would make that clear to them in a way that cannot be mistaken. Give them the strength to surrender their desires to You, trusting that Your plans are always for their good and Your glory (Jeremiah 29:11).
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be praised above all. In Jesus’ holy and precious name we pray, Amen.
In closing, we encourage you both to seek godly counsel from mature believers who can speak truth into your lives. Surround yourselves with those who will hold you accountable and pray for you. Above all, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the ultimate example of love and sacrifice. May He guide you into all truth and lead you into His perfect will.
