I work as a teacher in a foreign country, I'm single. I've been living far from family for eight years now, so I'm looking for a position in a school from the same company but in a country a bit closer to my siblings. It's a long process and much of it there's nothing I can do, just apply and wait. There are two countries where they might sent me, and I would be glad to go to any of them. Please pray for direction, that God will show His ways to the HR team and my principal who will send a reference. I'm praying and reading the Bible, trying not to feel anxious about it. God brought me to this side of the world, and he can bring me back closer to family again. Thank you!

We join you in prayer and thank God for your faithfulness over these eight years living far from family as you have served as a teacher. We hear your heart to be closer to your siblings and we understand how long and uncertain this waiting process can feel when so much is out of your hands after you have applied.

We are encouraged that you are praying and reading the Bible and seeking not to be anxious, for that is exactly what God calls us to do. Scripture tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 We also take comfort in the promise, Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

You are right to acknowledge that God brought you to that side of the world and He is able to bring you closer to family again if it is His will. A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9 We pray that you will continue to trust His perfect timing and direction, whether He opens the door to one of those two countries, keeps you where you are for a season longer, or leads you elsewhere. For we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 And we cling to His promise, I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go. I will counsel you with my eye on you. Psalm 32:8

We noticed your request speaks of God and prayer but does not mention Jesus Christ by name, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 It is by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and our prayers are heard. If you have already trusted in Him, we rejoice with you and encourage you to continue to bring every request before God in Jesus' name. If you have not yet done so, we urge you to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and call upon His name.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we lift up our sibling in Christ to You in the name of Jesus. We thank You for the work You have given and for sustaining Your child far from family for these eight years. We ask for Your clear direction in this transfer process. Lead and give wisdom to the HR team and to the principal who will send the reference, that they would make decisions according to Your will. If it is Your will for a transfer to one of these two countries closer to family, we pray You would open that door wide and make the path plain, and if not, give peace and contentment to remain and continue to serve where You have placed Your child. Guard this heart from anxiety and fill it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding as Your child continues to seek You in prayer and in Your Word. May Your will be done and may You be glorified in this whole process. We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We encourage you to keep waiting on the Lord with hope, continuing in prayer and in the Word, and to rest in knowing that He sees your desire to be nearer to your siblings and He cares for you deeply. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 May the Lord establish your steps and give you patience and joy as you wait for His answer.

We were moved to read your note. Eight years teaching far from family is a lot of faithfulness, and it makes sense you would long to be closer to your siblings now. Waiting after you have done all you can do is often the hardest part.

We appreciate how you put it, that God brought you there and can bring you closer again. That kind of trust in the middle of uncertainty is real, and we also hear that you are working to not let anxiety take over while you wait.

One small practice that helps many in a long application season is to give the waiting a clear boundary. You might choose one time each week to check for updates or to pray specifically for the HR team and your principal and their reference, and then let the other days be for the good work already in front of you, staying present with your students and keeping your regular time in prayer and the Bible. It does not rush the process, but it can keep the worry from filling every hour.

We are praying with you for clear direction, for wisdom for those making decisions, and for peace for you in the meantime, whatever the timing looks like.

Father, we lift our brother to You. You know his desire to be nearer family and the two places that may be possible. Give wisdom to the HR team and to his principal as they consider his application, and give him steady peace and patience as he waits. Lead him in Your good way. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your longing to be nearer to your family after eight years in a distant land is understood, and we have brought your request before the Lord with thankfulness for your trust in Him. It is good that you are praying and reading the Bible and seeking not to give way to anxiety, for God who brought you to that side of the world is able also to bring you closer to your siblings if it be His wise and gracious will.

We are reminded that anxiety itself unfits us to meet the difficulty which occasions it, and often we are in great hurry to do something when it would be better to keep still, resting in the Lord and waiting patiently for Him. You have done well to apply and then to wait, for there is much in this process that is not in your hands. There is a waiting God who waits that He may be gracious, and there is a waiting people who wait upon Him in hope, not in despair, with a joyous and assured expectation of blessedness in reserve. To wait upon Him patiently for His direction is itself an act of faith.

You ask for direction, that God will show His ways to those who must decide, the HR team and your principal who will send a reference. We pray that He will do so. The Lord guides His people not only by mysterious impulses to those who closely wait upon Him, but by great principles infused in the heart and by a bowing with submission to His will, and by that very submission we are furnished with unerring guidance. As you bow to His will, whether the door opens to one country or the other, or whether He keeps you where you are for a season, you may trust His guidance. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life, but he that believeth shall not make haste.

Remember Job, who in all his trial sinned not nor charged God foolishly, but fell down and worshipped, and in the end the Lord turned again his captivity. Our longest sorrows have a close, and there is a bottom to the profoundest depths of our waiting, when God has gotten His end in them. He can uphold you as He upheld Job, and keep you in perfect patience till His purpose is fulfilled.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Thou hast led Thy servant these eight years in a foreign land, and Thou knowest the desire to be nearer to family. We ask Thee to guide with Thy counsel. Show Thy ways to those in authority, to the HR team and to the principal, that they may act with wisdom and fairness. Direct the applications according to Thy good pleasure, and grant that if it be for Thy glory and for good, a place may be opened in one of these countries. If not, give contentment to remain and still to serve Thee faithfully where Thou hast set Thy servant. Keep this dear one from anxious thought, and help to rest in Thee and wait patiently for Thee, knowing that Thou waitest to be gracious. Let Thy Word be a light and a comfort day by day, and let Thy will be done. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who bought us with His precious blood and who ever lives to intercede for us. Amen.
